10 Years After – 16

“Ru…Locke. Can you speak directly to Lord Morton?”

“I can.”

Lord Morton was Goran.

Goran’s full name was Goran Morton.

“I would like to send Lord Morton a warning regarding the Vampire Lords.”

“I don’t mind doing that, but didn’t you already make a report at the guild?”

“Of course, I made a report…but the Adventurer’s guild is a giant organization…”

I understood what she was trying to say.

The entire guild was not likely to move based on the report of one Adventurer.

And there was a possibility that reports could contain lies.

Sometimes, even if the person had no intention of lying, the result is still a lie.

And so it would be necessary to first send out a group to investigate.

And the results of the investigation would determine whether or not the guild acted.

Of course, as Grand Master, that report may take a while to reach Goran.

“Fine. I wouldn’t want the gate between our dimensions to open either.”

“I’m relying on you, yes. I will now return to my homelands and gather information.”

Shia’s tribe hunted vampires as their occupation.

It would be easier to find information about the Vampire Lords.

“Oh, I almost forgot.”

So saying, Shia handed me half of the Vampire Lord medal.

It was the medal that was collecting curses inside of the Vampire Lord’s body.

I had cut it in half with the Devil King’s sword in order to break the curse, and so there were now two pieces.

“I wanted to give this to you, Mister Locke.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course, I am. I only need half of it to restore our honor. And I do think that it will be easier to explain to Lord Morton about it if you have this as proof.”

“That’s true. I’ll gladly take it then.”

And then I said to Shia.

“Let me know if you find anything.”

“Understood. So, I should either go to the Adventurer’s guild or to Lord Morton’s mansion if I want to find you?”

“Yes.”

Shia turned back to look at me several times as she walked away.

She was probably going to stay at some inn.

I returned to Goran’s mansion.

It was very late in the night, but the gatekeeper was still standing there.

This one was different than the last one. Perhaps he had the night shift.

“Good evening.”

“Mister Locke. Welcome back.”

“Thank you.”

I walked past the gatekeeper and entered the mansion.

As I was making my way through the dining hall, I saw that Goran was there.

He was drinking alone.

“Hey, Goran. You’re still up?”

“‘You’re still up?’ Damn you! You said you were going out for a short while and then disappeared for three whole days.”

“Now that I think of it, it has been a while.”

It took a day to reach the village and a day to return. So it had been two nights and three days.

It was a little long for your first job after going back to work.

“No one leaves for three days like that! You could have at least told me!”

“I’m sorry about that.”

I ended up getting lectured by Goran.
