10 Years After – 67

“Do you think so?”

“Yes!”

Serulis said as she patted Milka on the head.

After that, Serulis, Shia, Luchila and I went to the drawing room.

I didn’t call Gerberga, but he came anyway.

“Mister Locke. What is it?”

“Hmm. Eric asked me to search for the noblemen who were backing Kabino.”

“That is quite the request.”

And so I explained everything that Eric had told me to Serulis.

As we talked, Gerberga perched on my lap.

“That will be very dangerous.”

“You are waiting for Kabino’s confession for now?”

“They also need to inspect all of the evidence confiscated from his mansion.”

“Will the district manager keep you informed of everything?”

Shia said. Serulis looked at me very seriously.

Of course, I just needed to show the necklace that Eric had given me.

However, I should only use it when it was necessary. And so I was hesitant to use it from the beginning.

Besides, I wasn’t really worried about acquiring information about the investigation.

“I did tell Eric to protect the district manager, and prevent others from interfering with his work.”

“Hmm. Hmm.”

Serulis listened carefully.

“Eric should do everything that he can to protect the evidence. I even told him that Kabino might be assassinated if he is not careful.”

“I see. I do think that that could happen.”

“But how will he ensure it?”

“Will he assign more bodyguards?”

“I don’t think he would want to attract too much attention. Yes…”

I thought about it.

“Perhaps he will move the evidence and Kabino to the palace and make that the headquarters for the investigation.”

“Even if it is done in the palace, who will be investigating?”

“His guards?”

“I don’t know. It’s all up to Eric.”

And I knew that Eric would choose someone that was trustworthy.

“It’s a serious matter and also very urgent. That being said, we cannot act recklessly either.”

“Any wrong moves will make them cautious.”

“I just want to paint a target on all of the questionable nobles.”

Then Shia blurted,

“It is only Kabino now?”

“What do you mean?”

“Kabino was gathering sacrifices, wasn’t he? And his mansion was stocking weapons.”

“Yes.”

“If there are great noblemen backing him, I think there should be other people at the bottom like Kabino, who are doing the same thing.”

“I suppose so.”

Shia stood up from her chair.

“I’m going to go and see if there are any quests for missing persons.”

“I’ll go with you!”

Serulis said as she jumped off of her chair.
