Chapter 212 – Overflowing!

“If it’s that forest, we won’t be discovered.”

I said while looking at the forest that was away from the main road.

And so we landed the airship in the forest near the royal capital. It was then left in the care of Ecleshia and about fifty demihumans.

“Didn’t think it would take just one day.”

Melk muttered, and I nodded back.

Had we gone by land, it would have taken a whole month.

“I am surprised as well. It allowed us to easily pass mountains and forests…”

Though, it was probably the preparations for the long trip, including food, that had taken us the most time on the last journey.

“By the way, everyone. Though, I’m sure you already know…”

I said, and Iria, Mette, Melk and Asuha nodded. They were all wearing the same armor and hoods that were used during the previous expedition.

Mette said,

“Like before, I will avoid showing my horn in front of humans.”
“But I think that the people of the royal capital will welcome us.”

Asuha said, and Solm, who walked next to me, answered.

“Yes, the citizens of the capital will. However, soldiers and nobles from all over the country are now gathered there…and some of them will be stuck in their old ways. So it would be best to be cautious.”

Solm then turned to me.

“Sir Joshua. I think I will go and visit Vince first. I heard that he is currently staying in a temple near a town that is south of the city.”

Vince was the head priest who had once tried to lead an army of knights and volunteers in order to battle the Demon King army.
And so they had come to Varthburg.

However, it was not their true intention, as Kyuby had likely been controlling them.
We had then used Ent leaves to bring them back to their senses.

Regardless, was the top priest in the south temple. If he spoke, then the Toria Kingdom and nobles would listen.

“However, Solm. He also wants to fight against the Demon King army. Previously, he realized that the time was wrong. But surely he would also agree with Emperor Nordos now?”
“But he has been manipulated once already. So surely he will be more suspicious of this sudden decree… Allow me to try and persuade him. After all, he would feel indebted to you.”
“Very well…you can handle that. I must go and meet with Ylis.”

And so we separated from Solm for now.

We then continued on the road to the royal capital.

It had been a while since we last saw these lands. And for better and worse, it was much more lively than before.

We saw numerous campsites spread around the city.

Melk couldn’t help but mutter.

“There are so many people gathered.”

While there would have been people fleeing here from around the country, we had also built what was almost an excessive number of houses. There should not have been so many refugees camping outside.

Judging by the extravagant banner that flew above the camp enclosure, that campsite belonged to nobles of the kingdom. So they had brought their forces to the capital, in answer to Nordos III.

When I looked at the other roads leading to the royal capital, I saw numerous other banners. So other armies were arriving, one after another.

Iria looked at the area around the city with a look of awe.

“There are so many…humans…”
“Indeed. And there are other countries…so there are even more.”

Mette was also overwhelmed by the number of humans.

As Mette said, armies of the other countries would also head south. With all of them together, it won’t just be tens of thousands.

Eventually, we went through the gates and entered the city.

On the streets, there were people who remembered us, and some would talk to us as well.

But just as expected, the majority of armed people did not know us.

“There are many more people compared to before.”

Said Iria. There were more people and more stores. Clearly, restoration was going smoothly.

I wanted to take my time and look around, however, the matter was urgent.

On the side of the streets, there were people shouting about the upcoming battle against the Demon King army. From nobles to citizens, people everywhere were talking about participating in the fight.

Even if Ylis was popular she might not be able to stop this…

The Demon King had created great chaos on this kingdom already. And so they all held a grudge.

It was no wonder that the words Nordos III affected them so strongly.

Besides, Ylis had nothing she could use to persuade them to stop. She was probably struggling right now, in handling the situation.

And so we continued on our way to the royal palace.
