Cave King – 229

Chapter 229 – We Went Through!!

“Ahhhh!!”

After the floor fell through, we were immediately covered in rubble… Or so I thought. But instead, we plummeted into a vast open space.

It was so large that a whole village could fit within the circle chamber.
I could see the rocks, but there was no sunlight.
And the bottom was deep and far below us.

Apparently, we had plummeted into a giant hole.

Perhaps this was Remlik’s original destination.

As I thought calmly, I remembered that we would be smashed into the ground if we continued to fall like this.

But just as I was about to use wind magic to slow our descent…some change came over Remlik’s body.

He was being enveloped in light.

The light slowly expanded…and changed into a giant snake…no, a dragon.

“That is…”

I knew that the Vader people could turn into dragons.

Dragons known as Lindwurms.

But this was different.

It was also different from those of the Elto continent that I had seen.

A giant snake… It did look similar to the giant Leviathan we had once fought. However, it had no scales. Also, Remlik had giant wings on his back.

In any case, I had never seen or heard of a dragon like this.

In the first place, the Langs people had said that Remlik was not able to transform…

Well, there must be a reason for it.

Remlik beat his wings and twisted his body.

Thanks to that, wind began to blow from below us.
As the rubble fell at a rapid speed, we floated down like dead leaves.

Eventually, I could see the bottom of the pit.

Aside from the rubble, there were scattered tools that were no longer useful. Nothing seemed particularly unusual.

“Let’s land over there.”

I found a clearing where it would be safe to land.

And so we all headed to that spot slowly and landed on the ground.

Fule let out a deep sigh.

“I was wondering what would happen…”
“Sorry… I rarely travel with other people.”

Remlik said as he returned to his human form.

And then Fule said,

“I thought you couldn’t turn into a dragon. But you can.”
“Aye, just for a short while. The Vader blood is weak in me.”
“Hmm. …Well, be careful from now on. I wonder how you even survived this long.”
“Sorry, sorry. Ah, this place…”

Remlik raised his head.

Rienna was soon in awe of it as well.

“I was surprised by the entrance. But this place is also incredible…”

On closer inspection, it was even more great.

There were numerous holes and passages in the walls.

In terms of size, it reminded me of the library in the Sheorl undergrounds.

As I inspected them, I asked Remlik.

“It’s impressive that they were able to dig such big holes. Was it the Vader people?”
“No, it was not. They existed here before we found them. Of course, the holes were dug by workers that were brought here from conquered lands.”
“Really…? Still, there is definitely something different here.”
“You think so too? In the Leorl deposits, there are other similar holes. But…”

Rienna continued where Remlik left off.

“They were just holes, with no relics left.”
“Yes.”

Something should be there. But was not.
Indeed, it was a strange place.

And then I noticed something.

“By the way, did you dig under this floor?”
“Yes. But…”

Remlik looked into the distance.

There was a place that was slightly deeper than the rest.

“They weren’t able to dig very deep?”
“Yes. There is very strong rock below. Even with mithril weapons and great magic, you can only dig a little.”
“I see…”

I was very curious about what kind of rock it was…

Damn it. I couldn’t help but smile at the thought.

As for Remlik, he was just smiling while watching me.

But the words he said were troubling.

“Still, I thought that maybe you people could dig through it.”

Fule tilted her head.

“And why would we be able to do that?”
“Indeed… I have reasons for thinking so. You have very good eyesight for being humans. You can see this whole chamber, even though it is dark.”

Well, since Remlik had made a mistake, we might have gotten too relaxed.

Indeed, I would not be able to see all of it without the night vision ability of Cave King.

Remlik continued.

“Your magic energy is also not human. I have fought many humans, and their magic was not like this.”
“You talk like you have seen every human in this world. When in fact, there are many you have not seen yet.”

Fule replied calmly.

However, she was focused on his movements.

We did not know what he might do.

As for Remlik, he remained calm.

“I suppose you are right. …Well, it doesn’t really matter to me what kind of humans you are.”
“It doesn’t?”

So he only cared as long as he profited from it. I grew tense.

But his next words dispelled all my worries.

“The important thing is whether or not you will be my friends.”

He said with a serious expression.

“I know that you have your reasons. And you don’t have to explain them to me. And if you don’t want to be with me any more, you can leave. That is fine. But…I wanted to know why you attempted to learn about me.”
“Remlik…”

Just as we were cautious of him, he must have been worried as well.

We had approached him as humans with inhuman strength.
He must have been afraid.

“I’m sorry… However, we want to know more about Vader. The others are not likely to trust us. But I thought we might learn something from you.”
“You had such expectations… But what will you do with that information?”
“Indeed… Remlik. You told us of the Vader myths and armies of darkness.”
“Aye. That is why I am working.”
“We are facing a similar threat. In fact, we have already fought against such an enemy. A very strong enemy.”

I said.

“If I am being honest, we cannot cooperate with Vader. And so I decided to approach you.”
“I see… Surprisingly calculated.”
“I’m sorry. If you are offended, then we will leave.”

I apologized, but Remlik shook his head.

“There is no need to apologize. I was doing much the same thing. If anything, I am glad to learn your purpose. And that we both had the same worries.”
Said Remlik.

“If we help each other, then we can be friends…Heal. Please let me show you more of Vader. The information might be useful to you.”
“I would be glad for that. Thank you.”
“Then it’s decided.”

Remlik offered his hand.

I nodded and took it. And we shook firmly.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

“Ah, I am relieved… I really thought that you might kill me instead.”
“Are you really that scared of us?”
“Yes… When you were looking at the ground earlier…I saw you grin. That was horrifying.”
“Did I really look like that?”

Remlik nodded, and Rienna and Fule laughed.

“Hehe. Lord Heal becomes a different person when it involves ore.
“You don’t know it, prince. But Lord Heal is always like that.”

Perhaps I would have to ask Shiel to make a picture of what I look like…

“In-in any case! Since we came all the way down here, let’s search the place!”
“So you are going to dig.”
“Yes. With this.”

I said as I took the pickaxe from my back.

Remlik chuckled.

“Haha. You won’t be able to dig with that, no matter how many years you tried. Not even the magic you showed earlier would do much.”
“Well, well. This is what our chief is good at. Not magic.”

Fule said. Remlik was puzzled.

“…You really mean to dig with that?”

He could not believe it.

However, I had the Cave King crest.

There was likely nothing underground that I could not dig.

And so I struck the part of the ground that lit up under Cave King’s guidance.

The rock crumbled away and was immediately sucked into my inventory. And there was a hole large enough for a carriage to fit in.

We had never seen Remlik look more stunned.
