Chapter 95 – A Place to Store the Condiments

Ije had brought barrels of condiments from the village that the false demon bear had destroyed.
They had been abandoned there for several months, but had not gone bad. So that suggested they could last long if stored properly.

“Yes, that is important. What kind of place would be best for storing them?”
“Cool…dark place.”

It was likely because they were stored in such a place in the village, that they had not been spoiled.

“Hmm. Making a place like that would not be difficult.”
“Really?”
“Aye. If I make a basement, it will be cool, as the sunlight will not reach it.”

And if the temperature still rose, I could have water pipes flow along the walls.
When creating the water and sewage systems, we did not have enough metal. And so I hadn’t been able to use as many pipes as I wanted.
However, Hippolius had recently helped me gather a lot of metal materials.
And so we had more than enough now.

“Basement!”

Ije said happily.
However, I then heard Victor’s voice from the dining hall.

“Uh, Mr. Theo. Ms. Ije. Are you thinking about a storage space for the condiments?”

As Victor was still recovering, he did not need to help with cleaning up.
And so he was in the dining hall.
Apparently, he had been talking with the Adventurers about plans for the day, while also listening in on our conversation.

“So you heard, Victor.”
“Sorry to eavesdrop.”
“No, not at all. It’s not like it was a secret.”
“Thank you.”
“Still, I’m sure you were talking about something important over there, so I’m surprised you could pay attention to us at the same time.”
“It was just a coincidence.”

As we talked like this, the cleaning up was finished.
And so I, Kelly, Ije, Fio, Shiro, Hippolius and the wolf cubs all returned to the dining hall.

“So, Victor. Do you have an idea about where to store the condiments?”
“I don’t know if it really is a good idea. However, we’ve been storing food in the magic bag from the guild, haven’t we?”
“Now that you mention it, yes.”

The expedition team had two magic bags. One was owned by me, and the other had been borrowed from the guild by Victor.
In general, I kept mine with me, and used it to store materials and food supplies.
As for the guild’s bag, it mostly contained the boar meat that Hippolius acquired.

“While there is food inside of the guild’s magic bag, there is still plenty of space. So I think you should store the condiments inside of it.”
“I see.”
“It would be convenient if it was kept in the kitchen.”
“That is true, but… Wouldn’t you use it, Victor?”
“The biggest reason that I borrowed it was to increase the success of our sea voyage.”

In other words, the magic bag had already fulfilled its purpose.

“Your magic bag will surely continue to be used for gathering materials, and storing them to be used with your crafting skill. And so it would be better to use this one for food storage.”
“Hmm. That is a good argument.”

Not only did magic bags have a lot of space inside, but there was also magic to preserve the contents in their current state.
So it would be perfect for food and condiments.

“Is that fine with you, Ije?”
“Is okay?”
“Of course, Ms. Ije. Please use it freely.”
“Thank you.”

As we were all in agreement, I took the magic bag from Victor and we returned to the kitchen.

This was so I could make a wooden box with a lid to put the magic bag inside of it.
The structure would be simple and not too large.
And since it was easy, it would not take much time at all.

“Ije. As long as the magic bag fits inside, it can be any size. What size would be the most convenient?”
“This big.”

Ije raised her hand to about 0.8 meter height.

“Hmm. And I am thinking of having a lid on it. Which side should it open from?”
“Hmm. Top.”

Ije was rather short. About 1.2 meters tall.
If it was 0.8 meters, even if there was a lid on top, she would be able to take things out without having to bend over much.

“On top. very well.”
“If it on top, children will not be able to do mischief.”
“Ah, I see. That is important.”

I glanced over to Hippolius and the wolf cubs.
The cubs certainly were a mischievous bunch. And so if the lid was easy to open, they might get inside and try to bite the bag.
As for Hippolius… I doubted we had to worry. However, it was just a precaution, as Hippolius was acting rather young recently.

“Kyuo?”
“Wouu…”
“…”
“Au!”

Hippolius looked at me with a puzzled expression.
Kelly was now holding Hippolius instead of Fio.

As for the wolf cubs, they were playing with Shiro.
They would lightly bite Shiro’s tail and pounce on her.
And Shiro let them play, as they were having so much fun.

“Yes…it is important to prevent such mischief.”

While they were good, they were still babies.
Once they became excited, it was possible that they would do something like that.

And by the time they were big enough to open a lid on the top, they would have calmed down a little.
