Chapter 102 – Chaos and Order
While enjoying the tea and snacks, the four humans asked the two gods numerous questions.
After all, someone was trying to destroy the world. They had to learn as much as possible.
Though, in spite of all that, the atmosphere was quite relaxed, like any other tea party.
After being asked, Horus explained everything to them in an orderly fashion.
“First, I’l tell you about chaos and order. While I said the world would be destroyed, to be precise, I meant it would turn into chaos. Well, perhaps it is the same thing.”
Horus then made two spheres of water. One was a beautifully round globe, while the other was warped and distorted.
“The round one is a world with order. And this other one is chaos. Keep that image in your mind.”
Horus said as he made them vanish.
Instead, two human figures made of water appeared.
“Within the thin membrane of order, energy circulates according to the set rules—this is what a living organism is. And this is what chaos is…”
The two dolls were crushed and turned into one. And then it became like the first misshapen sphere.
“Everything melts and merges. There are no individuals. All civilization and nature fades away, and there is no sky or land. Everything becomes 1. That is chaos.”
Horus pointed to Ralph and Totto.
“Imagine it. There is no border, you melt down and everything becomes 1. Everything, from the color of undergarments to your internal organs is shared clearly. You would go mad. But as there is no self in the chaos, you would disappear. Like that.”
Ralph and Totto scowled.
“Apep is fine. He was born from chaos. It would be a world where he alone has a conscience. For him, order is just a nuisance that gets in his way.”
“So he must be stopped at all cost. …But, exactly how can the sky tree be destroyed?”
Menew asked, and Horus folded his arms.
“There is nothing you can do from far away. The pegasus cannot reach it, so you have no choice but to befriend a divine beast or dragon…”
“There is also the possibility of modifying the body to reach it. Regardless, both methods would take time.”
The others looked at each other at the mention of body modification.
They had a connection with a certain potion recently.
“Hey, what does Apep look like in this world…”
Menew asked for the others. Seker looked like he was surprised that he had not told them already.
“He is the leader of the Wind clan.”
“So we’ve been quite involved for a while then!!”
Obviously, he would know what Menew would do. And it would have been easy to stop Menew.
“He knows, and is ignoring you on purpose.”
“We met them once, but we could deal with them again.”
Seker and Horus looked at each other with puzzled expressions.
“If we sense something wrong, we will tell you. But for now, it seems like he prefers to stay quietly in the sky tree.”
“However, it’s also possible that he is jamming us. He was reincarnated into this world with a lot of abilities.”
“You should gather information as well. …Ah, it is almost time.”
The sunlight came in through the west stained glass window.
It seemed that they had to return while the sun was setting.
Menew felt a little sad that they were leaving. But it could not be helped.
“Ah, Menew. I do think…that you don’t have to force yourself to fit into this world so much.”
“Indeed. I think that you should relax a little.”
Menew wasn’t sure that he understood.
If he stood out too much, that could cause a lot of trouble. Menew did not want that.
However, there was truth in their words as well. Perhaps he was not making the best use of the abilities that he was given.
“Don’t overthink it. In other words, it’s fine to have a good time as well.”
“Exactly. You have a free way of thinking, and that is fine. As I said earlier, order moves based on the wishes of people. People do not need to match order.”
“You drew me as a little girl. What could you possibly be scared of now?”
He could not argue with that.
“Yes… I will think about it then.”
Ralph had quite the reaction.
As if he was bracing himself for Menew to become even more abnormal.
“I do feel bad for putting such a burden on you. And so I want you to have fun as well.”
“Some things should not be done. But your effort has been wonderful. So please stretch out your wings. Don’t waste this second life you received.”
The two gods said their final words, and then they disappeared into the western light.
The four humans that remained then decided to return to the inn.
No one said anything on the way back. But it wasn’t due to being overwhelmed by pressure. It was because they were afraid of Menew becoming even more absurd.
Also, they were wondering if they wanted to see or not see Menew’s drawing of girl Horus.
