The matter of the slippers was mostly settled
“And you won’t run out of the oil?”
“Oh, it can be secured in great quantities. Aside from the work of processing, the costs should be incredibly low, Lady Claire.”
“Well, I have no reason to refuse then. Besides, all I wanted in the beginning was something simple to wear in the house.”
It wasn’t really about making a profit. It was to make life easier for the servants.
“Thank you. Now we shouldn’t have a problem with fulfilling the orders. That being said, it is still too much for us. And so we will have to involve other workshops…”
“The workshops that helped with the hats?”
“Yes. They were trying to think of a new design already, and so I made a suggestion based on what Mr. Takumi wanted for Liza.”
“I see… Well, if one has an interesting idea, they should be free to try it. I suppose those slippers would sell better in Ractos now.”
“So you are fine with it? I showed you the ones with ears… But since this was originally your product, I didn’t know if we should change the design…”
“If they sell, you should do what you want. I don’t really care about that… I am not a designer anyway.”
The hat was just made to cover Liza’s ears. It was a coincidence, and not a deliberate design choice.
“Certainly. We will do as you say then…”
We then discussed future designs.
Whenever they came up with a new design for the product, I would be sent a few pairs in advance.
And if I had any suggestions, Mr. Halton would take it into consideration. And I would be paid a fee.
I had no intention of making slippers my main source of income. And since I wanted them to circulate to as many as possible, it was decided that I would take ten percent for every pair sold.
“Very well. Then the rubber slippers…”
“Yes.”
While they weren’t officially sold yet, we decided to buy a few that were already made.
We got the slippers with the ears on them, as Liza and Tilura had taken a liking to them. And while we couldn’t get enough for everyone just yet, we purchased enough for ourselves, the servants, and ten extra pairs.
Those would be used for guests.
Since there was no rush, we would be sent more whenever they had enough in stock.
As for the price, it was twenty coppers for the rubber slippers and six coppers for the oil slippers.
“Well then, as for the official contract, I’ll send a butler to visit at a later date.”
“Yes, certainly. We will be waiting.”
I would likely ask Keith to handle everything… But if there was nothing wrong with the contract or need for additions, then perhaps it could be anyone.
Regardless, it was just as we were about to leave the store… Upon seeing the slippers, the two who had been borrowing pens and paper from Ms. Lyra and Ms. Hermine, raised their hands at the same time as if they wanted to tell me something…
Thanks for the treat. 🖖
