“I am keeping you all in the camp because of the possibility of an ambush. You will help with fighting back if the enemy general comes here.”
“Then…then you should have said that in the beginning! Why didn’t you say it!”
“If you knew of the plan, then there would be a danger of it leaking in some way. And so I refrained from telling you.”
What was this?
Poro found himself looking at his toes. At this point, he did not even want to look at the other’s face.
“…They are all tired after the operation. May they leave now?”
“Yes. Thank you.”
Said Vengras and the Hero, and so he turned around and left without a word. He heard the others chasing after him, but he waved his hand dismissively.
“Leave me alone!”
He returned to his tent and sat down weakly.
Using Heroes and Gods to get his revenge. That was what he had thought up until now. However, perhaps he had felt it, deep down.
Surely they did not see everyone as tools and pawns.
“What…was that…”
Use and be used. Wasn’t that what he had wanted?
But the boy’s eyes had been so cold-blooded.
“…Monster.”
He whispered in the darkness.
—
In the now quiet room, Yasuharu looked away from his tablet and let out a deep sigh.
‘…Monster.’
He could hear Poro’s voice. And though he had been deep in thought, the word pricked him a little.
His whole body felt heavy and sluggish. It was always like this when he met with people and gave out orders. He was told that it was necessary for the plan. Still, it was difficult to maintain such an expressionless face for so long.
‘What irredeemable trash.’
Said the Seer, who had been watching.
‘Without understanding his position, he flaunts his shallow pride and attempts to intimidate like a thug. It makes my skin crawl.’
“How should we deal with them?”
He said in a nearly pleading voice. He wanted to be told what to do.
‘Give the magician the basic orders. As for this Poro, it is clear that he is acting based on his past, which he hasn’t come to terms with. He will eventually be crushed by the weight of it and make a fatal mistake. You can deal with him then.’
“…Yes.”
‘They are just pawns. There is no need to worry every time one is sacrificed.”
All humans are pawns. He had been told that many times.
The divine rule made everything like a real time strategy game. The Seer had told him when he first started to use it.
‘Look at everything through this screen. Having unnecessary relationships will cause you to hesitate during important moves.’
It was more than he could have hoped for. After all, his life up until now had been similar.
‘To you, this world is just something far away.’
Yes. He never really cared about what happened here.
Well, except for one thing.
‘As for future moves, it will be a matter of reading each other.’
The Seer was already thinking about the next plan. Yasuharu was glad that he never tried to pry into what he was feeling.
‘The kobold and the others know about our ‘eye’ now. Well, I knew it would happen eventually.’
“Should we stop monitoring the monsters?”
‘No, continue it in moderation. They will definitely have their own monitors for fear of the ‘eye’ leaking information. You should apply the pressure of being watched.’
The monitor continued to show footage of monster fortresses and dungeons. He could even see what was happening in the fortress where the demon general was stationed.
