Kamigami – 52 Part 7

The ogres charged through the gate and flowed into the village. The soldiers who had been waiting on top of the cliffs jumped down lightly and attacked.

Wild shouts erupted as the dark waves washed over the village in an instant.

“N…no…”

“Apparently, this village is no longer useful.”

The god analyzed the situation with cold eyes. Then he began to use the information device in his hands as he explained.

“With your Hero, the Lindle Village had the defense ability of a small fortress. And so I wanted to know how they would use their soldiers to take it. Of course, it could not be too easy, and so I brought you and Saliashe together.”
“You…what! Then what I did was…!”

“You were dancing in the palm of my hand. Saliashe’s kobold was the bait. And now I have seen the demon general’s tactics.”

“You…you bastard!”

She was angry at her own shallowness.

But more than anything, she was angry at the arrogant god in front of her.

“You really used me to do such a thing!”

“You are one to talk. As if you were not the one who conspired with Zephalis. It was you who broke the defenses on Salia’s star, weren’t you?”

Her words froze in her mouth. And without being able to say anything, she felt her body being dropped into a prison of cold stone.

“Were you trying to redeem yourself for those past sins? With just a little cooperation? If Salishe knew the truth, she would never forgive you.”

“But you are just as guilty!”

The feelings she had been holding inside began to overflow. Emotions that she should have expressed to him before.

“You were merely a lowly god as well! And the only reason you were able to rise so high is…!”

“Fool. I have my position because I saw an opportunity and moved wisely. I do not know why you even participated in the games, but judging by your situation, it is clear that you acquired nothing in spite of having the advantage.”
“Ah…ah…”

Unable to argue, she closed her mouth as tears ran down her cheeks.

Indeed, nothing had changed. Not since that day when she listened to the whispers of the other gods, and betrayed her own friend.

The reason she continued to participate, through feelings of deep regret. It was a form of atonement.

And this had been her opportunity to try and compensate.

“Do not worry. I have seen what I wanted to see. I shall save the village eventually. With my own army.”

Furukamuto turned back to the mirror as if bored.

And then he said curtly.

“Yesta. Use my blessing, and forbid any lesser god from entering my god seat during the game. And while you’re at it, get rid of that trash.”

“Certainly.”

The goddess with the giant staff smiled, and everything sunk into despair.

“I’m sorry…Salia…Sheto…Keita…”

With those words of sorrow, Canila’s consciousness was locked away in darkness.

Inside of the quiet forest, Fi walked with the kobolds. The sounds they had heard behind them were now so far away.

It was the beginning of dawn, and their surroundings grew brighter.

Before he knew it, the smartphone around his neck was vibrating. He picked it up without thinking and answered.

“What, old man? Don’t you know we’re busy over here!”

‘Calm down and listen. Sheto has been captured by the Demon King army.’

As soon as the words entered his head, Fi was screaming.

“Wh-what-why. What’s happening!? And Keita!? What happened to the village!?”

‘The Hero is on the ground. He is still unconscious.’

As the dragon god explained, the kobolds started to look restless. And then the star wolf appeared.

“Gu…Guto…?”

While he was not wounded, Guto approached him with his head drooping. And then he gently licked Fi’s face.

There was no one riding on the saddle..

“Where…where is Sheto?”

‘Salia is watching. However, there is no predicting what will happen now.’

So many emotions swirled within him. But he was desperate to say something.

However, only one thing came out of his mouth.

“Explain it to me. From the beginning. Everything.”
