Kamigami – 79 Part 4

‘It’s no use! You cannot intercept it in time…!’

The Seer’s shout was cut short by the sight of the minotaur emerging completely unharmed.

‘Berganda! Raise your axe, hold it ready!’

‘Like this!?’

White and crimson blessings enveloped the blade, while blue light protected his body.

‘Now this is welcome. In that case, I will go with more force!’

His axe, now reinforced with blessings, mowed down the soldiers like old branches, while the magicians were neutralized by the kobold’s spells.

‘Cavalry on both wings! Full speed ahead and charge straight into the center of the enemy! Do not let them join the demon general and kobold! All maniples advance! Hold back the enemy to the front! Units closest to the demon general, join the extermination effort at once!’

Order came one after another in rapid succession. Every trace of composure that he had shown now vanished.

Yasuharu switched the screen to an overhead view and surveyed the battlefield once more.

The cavalry charged towards the center all at once, while the enemy’s main force advanced towards them at the same time. The demon general and kobold rampaging through the center whittled away his forces every time they moved, steadily reducing their numbers.

“What the hell is this…”

As though they were being ravaged by a giant tornado, the number of troops dwindled at an alarming rate.

Had it only been the demon general, they could have hindered his movement with walls of infantry and magicians. They would have eventually worn him down and brought him to his knees.

And if it had only been the kobold, even considering the wolf’s mobility, their cavalry should have been more than capable of intercepting them.

But with those two united as one, the situation steadily tilted towards disaster.

More than anything, the divine vessel that the kobold had acquired was making matters worse.

Not only did it possess the powers of the Frozen Moon Arrow and Sun-Piercing Thrust, it could also launch other people’s magic attacks over long distances.

Furthermore, it could take the form of arrows to bestow blessing on others, while also serving as a weapon for close combat.

A piece that should have been insignificant was now wreaking havoc across the board to the point that it could no longer be ignored.

“The pawn has risen up…”

Just as he muttered it under his breath, the battlefield displayed on the screen before him seemed to overlap with a shogi board.

The king advanced across the battlefield without the slightest danger, while the promoted pawn at its side sealed off every tactic he had.

His defenses were not keeping up at all.

The mass of cavalry rushing forward resembled lances. Striking to their sides, the monster units let loose stones and arrows. The way they arched through the air to hit distant enemies called to mind the movement of a knight.

Knight to 4-5.

A single move came to his mind like a curse.

“Ug….gah…!”

Yasuharu held his head, pressing his fingers hard into his throbbing temples.

“Wh-what is the matter, Sir Hero!?”

“Shu…shut up! Go away!”

The combination of his worsening condition and the chaos unfolding on the battlefield made him nauseous.

‘…! Yasuharu!’

Shut up. Just be quiet.

The world was too loud. The tablet in front of him looked distorted.

‘What are you doing, Yasuharu? Listen to me!’

Just how long was he to be chased by that one move?

To escape it…he had to…

‘Reset it right now!!’

Yasuharu jerked his head up as if struck.

And then he saw it.

The image of a hobgoblin riding on a white wolf and carrying as many knives as he could hold in his hands.

“Die already, you damn Hero!!!”
