Poro suppressed his nervousness and drew out his sword.
Taking his stance, he stared ahead at the gigantic, bull-like demon. Huge, strong and terrifying.
‘That is the plan. Do you have any questions?’
‘…No. All that is left is for us to do our part.’
The Hero’s strategy was concise and as close to perfect as he could hope for. That being said, the level of danger involved was also abnormal.
“I never imagined that we would be fighting side by side like this.”
Ekbert stood beside him, a smile spreading across his face.
“Have a drink with me once this is over. You always look so gloomy, after all. It would be good to loosen up now and then. Bed a woman if you must.”
“…I will consider your offer.”
“Let me join too, eh? Don’t sneak off without me.”
Farnan said as he stood to the left, twirling a knife in his hand.
“I envy how you can talk of such things at a time like this. When I am over here shaking.”
Ditore stood behind them while gripping his staff tightly with both hands. Leodore, Meshe and the strategist moved back and surrounded the Hero.
As if sensing that they were now ready, the Demon General raised his axe in his right hand, while the kobold shifted into a side stance and drew his bow.
In any instant, the massive bull leaned forward, and the ground beneath his feet exploded.
He seemed to ignore the weight of his armor and axe entirely as he charged towards them with great speed.
“Gooo!”
With all of the strength that he could muster, and pushing aside his fear, Poro charged forward as well.
The distance between them vanished in an instant, and the Demon General’s enormous face came right up against him.
“Scatter!”
However, he had no intention of going head to head with him. Ditore leapt to the side, dodging the charge as he shouted.
“Legis! Woven Light Bind!”
The target of the extending chain of light was not the Demon General, but the kobold charging in from behind him.
“Woah!?”
Sheto was caught completely off guard by the ambush, and he was thrown to the ground.
“Now! Everyone, move in!”
Farnan, who had slipped past the Demon General’s side first, slammed his knives down towards the kobold.
A crimson flash scattered the chains of light, and the small creature leapt backward, dodging the countless blades flying toward him. Ekbert then rushed in toward the spot where Sheto had landed.
“Hyaah!”
A sweeping horizontal slash. The kobold’s face snapped back, and a few strands of fur beneath his chin were sliced off. With his torso left wide open, Poro’s sword followed with another strike.
“Gaah!”
With a dull clang of metal, the kobold, who had raised his bow as a shield, was blown away. However, he still managed to land on the ground on all fours.
“Sheto!”
“Don’t worry! Go ahead!”
A smile crept onto his face at the Demon General’s words. The moment he showed concern for his companion, that was the opening they were waiting for.
“Legis! Ascending Flame Array!”
The strategist’s voice echoed, and a wall of fire split the world in two.
Separating the kobold from the Demon General. Through the power of scorching flames, the plan had succeeded.
