Kamigami – 82 Part 3

As dawn broke, the sun began to illuminate their figures.

Sheto gazed at the cloudless blue sky and called out to the Demon General who appeared in the corner of his vision.

“Finally, it ends.”

“Indeed. This long battle will be over.”

The words stirred a strange sense of familiarity within him. Almost as if he was talking to Salia or Fi.

“Sheto. Will you really not come with me?”

“You, persistent. I’m Salia’s Hero. Besides, I told you. I will defeat, Demon King.”

“Oh, dear… You are a stubborn one. I would have felt such ease if you could only be honest with yourself.”

As always, he was matching Sheto’s stride. The concern, the small gestures. All were subtle kindnesses that did not seem to match his appearance.

“But for now. We are comrades, with the same fate. That is more reassuring than anything.”

“You…you, saying that. Cheap. Don’t like, tricks. Are you, lying?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. These are my honest feelings.”

Eventually, the Hero and the others came into view. He seemed to be in the middle of planning, as he was staring at his tablet. But upon noticing them, they took up position in a line.

Behind them, the army stood like a wall, just as it had yesterday.

“Komos! What of their movements?”

He asked without even turning around. The adjutant answered from a short distance away.

“The cavalry appears to be fewer than yesterday! They must have been sent back to defend the main camp!”

“Watch out for an ambush! I heard that the enemy god has withdrawn from this battle, but we must not lower our guard!”

Sheto turned his head to see that the monsters were lining up to form their battle formation now. However, most of them had suffered injuries from yesterday’s battle, and some were covered in severe burns.

On top of that, Sheto could even see some kobolds who were holding spears in unsteady hands.

“Hey, why are they, here?”

“It could not be helped. We needed the supply troops in order to form a proper spear line. Besides, if we fall, they would all die as well.”

Yes. The monsters had reached their limit. If they clashed spears one more time with the enemy, that would likely be the end of them.

“Commander.”

A knife wielder, Komos, a surviving Lizardman, and a troll warrior, lined up in front of Berganda.

“We’re counting on you. Avenge the ones who died!”

“Commander, strong. Will definitely, crush them.”

“It goes without saying. We will take everything they have. The Hero’s head and victory.”

And then the monsters came up to Sheto.

“Don’t let yourself be controlled by the power of the divine vessel. Think of your sword as part of your body. And then, the fortune of battle will be with you.”

“There is nothing more to say. But for this battle alone, watch over our lord.”

“Yes, I will.”

With that short greeting over, Sheto started to walk towards the Hero. In the spot where the meeting had been held yesterday, Fi and Guto were waiting.

“We’ll watch from here. And if anything happens, we’ll help you right away.”

“Wou.”

“Thank you. Magic, might fly. Be careful.”

The enemy had stopped talking now, and they were looking in Sheto’s direction. But they still had not drawn their weapons.

It was seven against two. Even without the god’s blessing and Reset, there was a clear advantage in numbers.

‘So they have a rook, bishop, gold generals, silver generals, lance, knight and a promoted pawn on their side. While we only have a king and one promoted pawn. Normally, victory would be impossible.’

The Dragon God said cheerfully. But Salia offered more encouraging words.

‘We will win. For Canila and Keita as well.’

“Aye.”

The Hero’s side and the side of the monsters kept their distance while glaring at each other.

Then the Seer’s Hero stepped back, while the seven soldiers created a wall in front of him.

“Let’s go, Sheto.”

Sheto nodded to the Demon General, and then he swung his left hand, causing it to glow brightly.

While feeling the presence of the divine vessel, Sheto roared.

“Argh! We will, defeat them!”
