Kamigami – 83 Part 2

‘The two units are certainly powerful. But that is only when they are working together and making the most of each other’s strengths.’

“Steadfast fortress, rise! Hear my voice and let your body become one of fierce might!”

The earth trembled at Meshe’s voice, and beyond the wall, another wall began to rise and form a new barrier.

‘The Demon General has so far relied on the kobold and the young dragon for defending against magic. The general himself cannot use magic. And so our strategy for defeating him must be centered around magic.’

“What pests! I’ll smash through that pathetic excuse for a defense!”

Even through the wall, the terrifying sounds could be heard. The clash of metal rang violently, loud enough to rupture one’s eardrums.

“Gaahhh!”

“What is it!? A shield bearer should not be squealing like that!”

Leodor let out a cry as the axe crashed against his warhammer. No matter how strong he was, he could not keep up with the Demon General’s strikes forever.

“Captain!”

Poro raised his sword hastily to block the magic arrow that came in front of his face, scattering sparks of light. The kobold was kneeling on one knee, bow drawn and aimed at him.

“Don’t look away. Your opponent, me.”

“…Tsk.”

There was a slight scorch mark and dent on his blade. The power of the magic was equal to or even a little greater than an ordinary soldier.

“Farnan, General.”

“Leave it to me.”

“Make sure you dress up nice and proper, Captain!”

‘The kobold should still be in training when it comes to close quarters combat. Ekbert, Farnan, and Poro, pin down his movements, while Ditore keeps him in check with magic. Take him down as quickly as possible.’

Once again, the knife cut through the air, and the general pursued the kobold right after it. The kobold spun his bow, knocking the knife away, and then instantly drew his two blades, striking the general’s sword aside.

“You’re too slow!”

The sword came sweeping toward the kobold as he tried to slip past his side. As he was sent rolling across the ground, he desperately avoided the blow by a hair’s breadth.

“Ha!”

Farnan drew the slender sword from his belt in a swift motion and thrust it toward the face of the dog-like creature as he tried to rise.

But even with fresh blood spraying from his cheek, the beast still lunged forward, closing the distance between them and slashing the blade in his hand across Farnan’s unarmored abdomen.

“Binding Web of Woven Light!”

Chains wrapped around the monster’s arm, stopping his attack. The kobold then scattered his magic and retreated back.

While watching all of this unfold within his field of vision, Poro began chanting the words of power that would awaken the strength that was granted to him.

“The root of the soul, the origin of the flesh, I seek strength and might.”

As he still had not mastered the art of standby spells, all he could do was chant like this. Still, he would not waste the time his comrades had bought for him.

“My body shall become stronger, swifter, and fiercer. As I will, as I desire, the power within me shall surge forth.”

All external magic would be dispersed by break arts. In that case, he only needed to unleash it within his own body.

“Legis Stole. Thunder Cleaving Strike!”

“Bind it, chains of the earth!”

Beyond the flames, magic exploded. The force of the blast traveled through the wall, sending a shockwave that could be felt deep in his stomach.

“GRAAAAAAH! Not yet… I’m not done yet!”

The Demon General’s voice was trembling with pain and exhaustion.

Leodor’s warhammer came crashing down upon his body again and again, and the thunderous sound of each strike echoed through the battlefield.

“I command once more, by these words, awaken the power that lies dormant within!”

A searing pain tightened around Poro’s temples, and his vision began to blur white. Beyond it, the general’s strike sent the kobold’s bow flying far into the distance, and a knife pierced into both of his legs.

“Guh…ahhh!”

Upon seeing the dog-like creature collapse and roll across the ground once more, Poro realized they had a chance to win.
