I asked about hair care
“Men do not talk about it as much. However, it has been a rather important subject for us since we were young.”
“Really? I suppose. I never talked about such things with father. It was always with Hermine or the maids.”
“We knights don’t really… A lot of knights who are women would just cut it off.”
“Uh…in any case…that is the kind of person Mr. Eu… I mean, many men like women with long and beautiful hair…was the conclusion.”
I awkwardly wrapped things up.
While I seemed to be speaking for a lot of people, I didn’t think I was too off the mark.
Besides, I didn’t want to pin it all on Mr. Euto, or Ms. Lugretta was sure to overreact.
I already saw that she was touching her hair now thoughtfully.
“Indeed. But if only there was an easier way to care for your hair…”
“And, uh…what do you do now?”
I wasn’t asking for tips for myself. But I became curious as I saw Claire sighing.
“Hmm… Obviously, I wash it repeatedly with hot water. And then I brush it often.”
“It takes a long time to dry it after bathing.
Said Claire and Ms. Lyra.
A hair dryer would sure be useful in such situations. But obviously, no such thing existed here.
“We also have various oils for the hair… But they sometimes have an unpleasant scent…”
“Yes, I do not like them either…”
“They are good for making your hair glossy… But as a traveler, I would never use such a thing.”
“Never? And I am sure there are some travelers who would use it.”
I said to Ms. Lugretta.
“Well, maybe not all of them. But I have heard that some attract monsters. They are lured by the scent of the oil.”
“I see… Yes, that would be quite dangerous for travelers.”
Ms. Lugretta and Mr. Euto were so strong that they would be fine if the average monster attacked them. Still, it wasn’t like they wanted them to come at any time.
“Are there any other problems with the oil, outside of the scent?”
“Not that I have heard. It makes your hair shine and prevents damage… It is also quite affordable and sold even in small villages, thanks to merchants and caravans.”
“Even if profits are low, it is guaranteed to sell.”
“As I hate the smell, I do not use it or buy it. But some of the other servants use it.”
“Still, the smell isn’t that strong. You wouldn’t notice it on a person unless you were very close and deliberately smelled them.”
“If that’s the case…then you would think that the majority of people wouldn’t care?”
Apparently, the smell was a lot weaker than I initially thought.
Well, I suppose that if it really were that strong, Leo would have noticed it. I had never noticed anything when the servants were using it.
Whether I was in the mansion or in town, I had never smelled anything like that.
“It’s mostly used by people with long hair. And so it feels like the unpleasant smell is following you wherever you go. Or that is what I heard…”

I see. The longer your hair, the more oil you were carrying. And every time your hair moved, the scent would waft in the air…I think.
If it was like that all throughout the day…then I could see why people would avoid it, if they didn’t like the smell.
