My Beloved Dog is the Strongest in Another World – 1171

I was reaching the limit of my patience

Deurgo continued to talk about Volgrau.

After realizing the possibilities of having a familiar, he went out into the forest in order to search for a wolf.

And after finding one, he had fought it and then made the contract.

However, it had not been a one on one fight. Deurgo said it was two groups against each other. Well, wolves would likely be in packs.

And though Deurgo talked as if he had done most of the work, it was mostly likely he relied on the others.

After all, he was talking about swinging his sword to scare them. Or how he threw rocks as a distraction… Perhaps it was better than nothing, but that would hardly be enough to beat a pack of wolves.

In any case, he had acquired a familiar like that. But his real goal was a Silver Fenrir.

He wanted to train Volgrau first, and then defeat fenrirs and make them his familiars as well… There were steps to his plan. However, whenever he used his sword against Volgrau, he would win easily.

That was why he thought the wolf was weak and not worth training.

He did not know that a familiar would not fight seriously against its master…

I saw Sebastian sigh quietly. As someone who liked to read and accumulate knowledge, he very much wanted to point out the other man’s ignorance.

Regardless, during this story, Deurgo also admitted to threatening and robbing merchants and stores during his travels.

He talked about this boastfully, not even noticing the glare of the guards who stood behind him.

He really was an idiot. At least, it did not seem like he had hurt anyone badly, or killed anyone yet. But it did seem that there would be a lot to uncover once they searched.

“So, I thought that I would get rid of that useless wolf, and capture another one!”

We came to that part of the story.

He really just saw familiars as convenient tools that he could catch. This showed that he had no right to have them.

In any case, while Deurgo wanted to abandon Volgrau, the wolf continued to follow him. And so he decided to kill the troublesome beast. He said all of this in a light-hearted voice.

“But now…the useless wolf is going to make me some money. You finally proved your worth, eh? Volgrau? Ah, I know. What if I got another wolf for you too? And you can pay me another hundred gold.”
“…Indeed.”

He was starting to get carried away.

Sebastian pretended to listen to him, but his gaze was towards the ceiling and I saw that his cheeks were twitching.

He might be at his limit.

Not just him, but Sherry and I were also… As well as Claire and Tilura.

“With a wolf, your safety outside of the town is all but assured. Pretty cheap price, eh? And if you don’t have enough money, you can always threaten people with your wolf, and they’ll pay you immediately! I did that with Volgrau!”

“Hmm. I see. Volgrau was just a tool for you. It’s what I expected, but…”

“There are plenty of useful tools out there. So I can spare one if it will make me money. Pretty simple, eh?”

“Yes, it is. Simple. It was a mistake to be so civil with you. A mistake indeed. Hah… And you are not even connected to anyone either. Though, you did say something that made me wonder…”

Deurgo didn’t realize it, but the usually calm Sebastian now had a sharpness in his voice that I had never heard before.

“What? But I’m willing to resolve this with a little money. Even Volgrau will be happy to finally be useful…”
“Grau! Garrrraugh!”

The moment that Deurgo tried to talk to his former wolf, Shery jumped on top of the table.

She then growled at him angrily.

“She-Sherry!?”

“Wha-what!?”

Deurgo was astonished.

I had been petting her quietly in order to keep her calm… But it was no longer effective, and she had lost patience…
