There was something unfamiliar in Range Village
“Hmm… What’s that…?”
“Wuff?”
“I can see something?”
“I wonder what it is?”
As the village entrance and buildings came into view, I saw that there was also something I had not seen before.
“Is it…a building?”
“It looks like it.”
It was very large. And appeared to be some kind of structure…perhaps a house?
“Can you tell, Leo?”
“Wuff-wuff! Wuff?”
Apparently, even Leo could not tell what it was either…
“Could it be… That it is the new house that was built for us?”
“Ah, indeed. That would be a house big enough for Leo… But I thought it was supposed to be built on the north side, not so close to the entrance.”
“Yes…that is not right…”
While not as big as the duke’s mansion, it was very impressive.
Still, if there had been a change in plans in regards to the location, then Sebastian would have told us.
“Wuff?”
“What is it, Leo?”
“Mama?”
“Wuff? Wuff!”
“There is someone? Approaching?”
“Who? Someone to greet us?”
According to Leo, there was someone headed towards us from the village entrance.
“…Hmm. Ah, I can see someone running.”
I squinted and saw the figure in the distance.
“Yes. Is that… Hah…”
“Ah, it’s grandpa!”
“Liza, is that what you call him now? In any case, it is definitely Mr. Ekenhart…”
Claire also squinted and then sighed when she realized who it was.
“He’s waving his hand…”
“I think he is calling to us. That’s just like father.”
“Indeed.”
I nodded. He was definitely the kind of person who would come running towards us. And it wouldn’t be strange for him to shout either.
Though, due to the sounds of the carriages, we could not hear what he was saying.
“Wuff-wuff.”
“Ah, there are others behind him… His guards, perhaps?”
Three men in armor were running behind Mr. Ekenhart.
“To run ahead of his guards like this… I’m sorry, Mr. Takumi.”
“No, there is no reason to apologize.”
He probably just wanted to see his daughters as soon as possible.
“Oh…! Cl…!”
I was starting to be able to hear him more clearly.
Also, the building was more visible now. And I could see that there was a new wall surrounding the village now. Previously, there had been a wooden fence, but now there was a brick wall as high as a man’s chest.
I suppose it was to protect the people against monsters. Still…it seemed like a lot had changed in such a short amount of time…
