Kamigami – 19 part 2

“Enjoy your time on that pedestal. You air-headed storm god.”

While they were similar in rank and had a lot in common, he found the other’s warrior-like appearance and boastful personality to be quite aggravating.
The sea god looked around and saw that Evacus had just finished speaking to a different god.

“Well, well. Lord Sydia, ‘Weaver of the Waves.’”
“You’re quite diligent, ‘East Wind Plague.’”

Evacus had already been doing work in his world. He felt some resistance in using someone that was not of his race, but as this god happily took on the role of a villain, he had invited him to his world a number of times.

“I heard from Gardekier. You are now acquainted with the goddess.”
“Yes. That being said, I told him that I would not be able to say anything that would be of advantage to him, and he scolded me.”
“Hehe. Well, he would do something like that.”

He really was a fool. He could not see through Evacus’s subtle words, and yet he thought that he could rise up to being a greater god. It was so ridiculous.
Perhaps it was almost time to knock him down.

“About that. It can be after you speak to Gardekier, but would you mind speaking to me as well?”
“However, Lord Gardekier is always so kind to me.”
“Do not use your country bumpkin act on me. If you stick to that puffed up air head, you will have no future. I may not have as large a territory as him, but I could make better use of you.”

Evacus’s face tensed up and he held his chin.

“I am very sorry. But even as a plague god, I have my pride.”
“Hmm…”

If this had been the storm god, who acted like a king, he would have shouted with rage at this point. However, Sydia just frowned and looked down at Evacus.

“…However, I do have a rather forgetful personality. And so it is possible that I may spill something by accident at some point.”
“By accident. Indeed. Accident.”
“Yes. I hope that if I am ever so clumsy, you will not tell the other gods.”

The sea god nodded quietly, and then Evacus bowed and left.
That was the way of the rat. He would make sure that many gods were in his debt, thinking to eventually gain more power for his own.
However, unless you were as stupid as the storm god, then you probably knew what Evacus was planning.

“The rat’s stench is becoming unbearable. Once the goddess has been defeated, I shall take his tiny territory as well.”

Sydia muttered to himself as he walked away.

Evacus went through the door and entered his god seat and let out a deep sigh.

“Ah, blast it all.”

His rags instantly transformed to clerical garment, and his dirty fur also returned to a clear, golden color.
The god seat looked like a storage house. At his feet, there were numerous treasures and decorations, and food and wine barrels lined the walls, as well as other objects that signified wealth.
It was almost like a dragon’s lair. He sat down at the throne in the far back, and brought up a mirror that floated in the air.

“So, Satoru. How are things going?”
‘Yes. I did as you said, and had the others return.’

Replied the young voice.

‘Are you sure that we don’t need to watch the kobold anymore?’
“We will leave the rest to Gardekier’s Hero. He is not too far away, is he?”
‘Yes. A nearby village was attacked by monsters, so he went there first.’

He drew a map in his head based on the report, and confirmed everyone’s movement. Things were going smoothly. He nodded with satisfaction.

“I see. I will probably have to help you again soon. So be ready..”
‘But…shouldn’t I help now?’
“Your level is still too low. You will just get in the way. It’s better if you don’t go.”

Evacus chuckled at the mirror.

‘That’s true. Alright, then what should I do now?’
“There is a good dungeon to the west. You should train there.”
‘Fine. Thank you.’
“Alright, I have some work to do. Call me if you need anything.”

He turned off the mirror and leaned back into his throne.

“Now then…”

The rat folded his hands on top of his stomach and closed his eyes. He thought about everything he had done up until now, and what he would do in the future.
After some time, his body collapsed from his position.

“Phew…”

He sighed.

“Hehe…”

He had never felt such excitement before. The thought of what was to come made his heart soar.

“Haha. Hahahahaha!”

Evacus could not hold it back any longer.
His face was filled with an emotion he never showed anyone.
A brightness that showed all of his ambitions.

“…Now, time to get to work.”

He became serious again and brought up a small mirror in front of his face. It was only a little larger than his eyes, and it was used like a telescope.
He looked inside and sighed with satisfaction.
What he saw was a world of sky and earth.
