Kamigami – 28 part 3

‘Don’t be foolish! It must be used for this battle!’
“If it’s used here, and I survive. Will you use it again next time!?”

Salia only wanted to use it because he was weak.
Unless he overcame his weakness, he would not be able to defeat the Heroes. The Demon King and the world.
Perhaps he did need the blessing. But he did not want to rely on it alone.
Think.
Think, think, think!

“Shogo-kun. back on the count of three. Masaki-kun, boost me. Shinya-kun, follow me and fire with everything you got!”
“Understood.”
“Fine.”
“Okay.”

The great sword swung, the twin blades unleashed a storm of slashes, and the shadow bound Sheto to the ground.
And in the sky, a giant magic energy glowed. All he had was a broken divine vessel and a hatchet.

“Three.”

Amidst the exploding sparks, he heard the words.

“Two.”

His sharpened senses could feel the shifting weight of the Hero with dual swords. The power of the slashes weakened slightly.

“One!”

It was just a small opening. Just before two attacks rained down, the twin blades stopped, and there was a space of nothing.

“Arghhhhhh!”

With a shout, the break arts activated, erasing the shadow. And while using the snakebite sword to create a whirlwind, he wrapped it around the Hero in black.

“Shi-”

And then, the shock waves and magic light slammed into Sheto and the Hero.

“Ga…hah…”

Burning pain all over his body. Still, he was alive.
And the Hero in black was dispersing into particles of golden light right in front of him.
Still, Sheto could not move. The snakebite sword had shattered, but he still had his hatchet.

“Ah…gah…”
“Just how tough are you?”

The greatsword wielder said with a look of pity and sadness.

“Do you hate us so much? You want to kill us? Do you hate Heroes?”
“…Want to live.”

With his burned hand, he reached out and gripped the handle of his hatchet.

“Because, I want to live.”

The Hero seemed stunned by this. Sheto slowly unsheathed his blade and held it up.
However, his knees buckled.

“Ah…”

No, he could not fall here.
He could not overcome this world if he didn’t become stronger.
Still, the strength left his hand

“Damn it…”

In his head, the words blessing and world were overlapping.

You are weak, and do not have the power to move the weight of this world.
That’s why you are killed in this world as a weak monster.
That’s why you cling desperately to blessings.
He heard the voice.

And so he did not want to lose. To this world or the blessing.

“I…”

The Hero raised his greatsword in order to end Sheto’s life.
Still, Sheto thrust out his sword towards the Hero.
And then…

“AWWWOOOOOOOOOOO!”

A howl cut through the air.
It was so sudden and out of place, that everyone who was present froze for a second and then looked around.

“You…”

Sheto muttered. The Star Wolf, who appeared as if an illusion, pressed its wet nose against him.

“Why…are…you…here?”

But it ignored his question, and used its nose to push Sheto onto its back.

“What!? What the hell is that!?”

The greatsword wielder shouted. But in the next moment, the Star Wolf dashed away.

“Ah, wait! Masaki-kun! The shadow!”
“It’s no use. It’s faster!”

While it was not the most comfortable ride, Sheto held on desperately and whispered with gratitude.

“Th-thank you. You, helped me again.”

The scent of its presence. It seemed like it was saying, ‘don’t mention it.’ Before he knew it, they were far away from the shouts of the Heroes, and he could feel his body healing slowly.

‘…Fool!’

Salia had watched everything, and she shouted with sadness.

‘Fool, fool, fool! You big idiot!’
“I’m…sorry…”
‘Why are you so stubborn! Fool! Do you have any idea how I felt while watching that!’

She shouted tearfully.

‘Why won’t you rely on me! Do you hate the power of gods so much! Am I so unreliable!’
“No… Because I am weak. Do not want to…only rely on others.”
‘Don’t be ridiculous! You are strong enough! So please! Let me do something!’’
“I’m fine, Salia. Was it you? Who sent this wolf?”

Salia sighed.

‘I don’t know about that either. It must be the Star Wolf you met before. Why is it out here?’

It must have heard, as the Star Wolf stopped and let Sheto down. There was a small river that flowed down the side of the mountain.

“Ah…”

Without being able to think of anything else for a moment, Sheto dunked his head into the water. As he drank the sweet water that spread in his mouth, he felt the strength entering his tired body.

‘It really just was passing through then…’

Salia muttered as Sheto raised his head again.

‘It was not going to get involved at first, but that became difficult as it watched.’
“You…are a strange one.”
“Awooo!”
“Ah, so-sorry.”

The wolf wagged its tail and sat down as if offended.

‘It says it could not watch as someone who it shared prey with, was being attacked by a large pack.’
“I see. So that’s why you are here…”

There was a flash of light, and Sheto and the wolf jumped back. After seeing the attack from the Hero in the sky, their location would be known to the others.

“Hide-and-seek is over.”

Said the Hero in the sky. But for some reason, he sounded uncertain. Sheto smiled.

“Hey, you. Can you stay just a little longer?”
“…Woof.”
‘It said, it will stay with you.’
“Thank you.”

The wounded Heroes would be healed by now, and there were still many of them.
All Sheto had was a hatched and a strange wolf.
Still, Sheto held up his weapon and waited.
And then, as if to match the timing, the Hero began to shake up in the air.

“Ah, huh?”

And then he fell wetly to the ground.

On the other side of the mirror, the Hero shattered into light after falling to the ground.

“Wh-why!? I used a blessing to erase that kobold’s poison and… Ah, there is no… AH…!”

The other gods watched, speechless, as he turned into stone. With a shaking voice, Gardekie shouted into the empty air.

“Yesta, what is the meaning of this?”
“Yes, that was a disease.”

She said cheerfully as she pointed to the Heroes in the mirror. Those who had been hit by arrows were cold and felt pain. Their skin had swollen red and their mouths foamed.

“Re-rediculous! A disease in such a short amount of time!?”
“I hear there are monsters who know how to enhance poisons to create powerful diseases. Perhaps this kobold has such knowledge.”
“But! The poison was gone!”
“That is not the same thing. After all, your blessing was to erase some poison, not erase all status effects.”

Gardekie thought of the kobold’s arrows.
The first had been dry, and after that, the arrow was clearly coated in poison.

“Such viruses spread slowly, unlike the poison from plants and animals. I think the arrows must have been soaked in it beforehand.”
“That bastard!”
“Lord Sydia! Use your Hero’s blessing to heal mine! I already used the blessing!”
“Calm down! In any case, we need to… Huh!?”

The forest was already getting dark. And something was moving swiftly through the trees.
Something tall like a tower. A giant humanoid.

“Impossible. A giant!?”
“No…that’s…”

Its expressionless face was not made of flesh, but something silvery. It was a giant, metal statue with exaggerated muscles and waist cloth.

“Not only that! Look!”

Above it, flying as if to push away the trees, there was a giant reptile with great wings.
It had a thorned tail, and vicious fangs that dripped with venom. It glared at the Heroes with malice.

“Why is that thing here!”
‘Because my Hero called it.’
“Evacus!?”

The small rat was suddenly sitting in the center. He turned to the Gardekie and grinned.
