The Hero’s despair and Evacus’s provocation. It was enough to drive Gardekie to the verge of madness.
Still, he would try to salvage the situation as he shouted into the darkening forest.
“How dare you act like a coward! Levels mean nothing! Go and kill the bastard!”
‘You’re out of your mind! Besides, this is all your fault!’
Even while shouting it, Gardekie knew how foolish the words were. And the Hero did not fail to remind him.
‘He prepared carefully and understood his opponents! An idiot like you, who only looks down on others! Such people can’t kill giants!’
With that said, the Hero still raised his greatsword and faced the golem.
‘I don’t care about you or any of the gods now! I am just going to protect Ayano!’
“Wh-what are you talking about!?”
“Pro-protect Ayano!? Ye-yes! Do that! Protect her!”
‘Please stop! Lord Sydia, I don’t want to hear your voice anymore!’
This sudden rejection caused the sea god to turn pale.
“A-Ayano?”
‘I never wanted this. This fighting! The world that I imagined…it was different!’
She raised her staff and stared at the golem.
‘If…if Fuminori-san says that he will protect me, then I will also protect him! I don’t care about you anymore! I will go with him!’
‘A-Ayano… NOOOOO!’
What was going on?
They ignored the gods who summoned them and gave them power. And yet they still intended on fighting the enemy in front of them.
Still, there was nothing else that could be done.
“Th-then do as you please. With your remaining blessing, you should be able to resurrect just once.”
‘You sounded defeated already. But if we win, then you won’t lose anything, right? Anyway you should be rooting for us!”
Gardekie also had no choice but to just watch.
Damn. He had gotten a little carried away.
But even while thinking that, Fuminori was burning. This situation. A hopeless fight, but with a pretty girl at his side. It would never have happened in his old life.
The wyvern rose up in the night sky, and the golem tore down trees as it advanced towards them.
“Ayano, I thought you hated this kind of thing?”
“Yes. But it’s different now. At this point, I just want to win this battle. And then really give that god a piece of my mind!”
Fuminori grinned at her confidence.
“Great! I also want to win, and yank the beard off that old man!”
“Fuminori!”
They moved apart, and her staff glowed a golden color.
“Divine might, come and protect us from the scorching breath!”
A barrier of magic energy was cast over there, blocking the breath that came a moment later.
However…
“Tsk! Achh!”
Flames dug at the ground, going under the barrier, and burning their skin.
“I’m sorry! It was too weak!”
“No! It’s just too strong!”
The barrier was not working right. Still, had they been hit directly, they would have burned completely. At the same time, she cast some defense and attack boosts.
“That is all I can do! It’s up to you now!”
“Got it!”
He had no intention of taking on the wyvern first. He could try and knock it out of the sky with a shockwave, but it would just waste energy if he missed.
In that case, he should choose the easier target.
“Eat this! You ugly giant!”
He swung his greatsword as hard as he could. At the same time, unleashing a shockwave.
“Ga…”
The giant stumbled, and a deep cut appeared on the surface.
“It-it’s working!”
“Shockwaves and hammers are good for dealing damage to it!”
“You sure know a lot. That’s great!”
He raised his sword to swing again. But from behind…
“Wyvern! Tail Needle!”
Came the order, and something rained down from the sky.
When he turned his head, he saw the needles shooting out from the wyvern’s tail. Ayano moved in front of him.
“Aynnno!”
The needles slammed into her, and she crumbled to the ground.
“You bastard!”
“Golem. Hammer Swing!”
Fuminori exploded with rage as the calm orders continued.
“You little shit!”
As the golem’s arm swung, he slammed his sword into it with all of his might.
The heavy shock of it pierced his body, but he tensed his stomach muscles and pushed back.
“What did you do to my Ayanooooooo!”
As fist and sword clashed, cracks appeared on both sides. But Fuminori shouted to the divine weapon.
“Impact. All out!!”
As his consciousness started to fade, bothe sword and fist began to shatter. In the corner of his vision, he saw the golem’s left fist coming, and hope turned into despair.
“I had forgotten.”
He had not played MonColo since he was very young. He cursed his carelessness and chuckled.
“Hammer Swing is a two-hit attack.”
He muttered, just as he felt the pain, and his consciousness was blown away.
