Paintbrush Summoner – 112

Chapter 112 – Assigned to Miscellaneous Tasks

The next day, Menew and the others met up with Sety in front of the Adventurers Guild again. And with some excitement, they went inside.

They were swiftly taken to the back. However, it was like entering a battlefield.

“Not enough documents! Not enough inspectors! Send some employees over here!”

“There are only E or D Adventurers left! Look for something above C! The Farmers Guild is rushing us!”

“And we don’t have enough to support the Knights Guild either! Where are the soldiers from the capitol!?”

There were piles of books and documents on the desks, and the people were shouting and screaming everywhere.

In a corner, there were dirty dishes stacked into a mountain. It did not smell very good.

After passing this and entering a room in the back. There was an extravagant desk with engravings, and a man was sitting hunched over it. He was in his forties.

“Oh, there you are. Welcome to the Jupno Adventurers Guild. As you can see, we have a desperate lack of personnel now. So we are glad to have you.”

He said while scratching his forehead with the tip of a pen.

He had red hair that was cut short and wore a wrinkled uniform. Even when sitting, it was clear that he was tall and muscular.

Surely someone like that should be on the road instead of behind a desk. Still, he did have the aura you would expect from a Guild Master.

“I am Van. The Guild Master here. Things have not been going well after the war. If you are willing to help, I will give you permission to go to Caprichio. What do you say?”

He was quick. And since this is exactly what Menew and the others wanted, they all nodded.

“Right now, what we lack is inspectors for the farmlands and monster hunters. Also, the wounded soldiers need to be treated. Cleanliness management as well. The low-rank Adventurers help as well, but they lack experience. As for mid to high-rank Adventurers, they have all left, as there are no lucrative jobs. As for the monsters, we asked help from the Medical Guild, but they are busy with healing soldiers.

Besides, tens of thousands of people were here and ate food before leaving. The town is in a desperate state. Look. Just solve one of these problems within a week.”

They all turned to look at Menew. He folded his arms and looked at the ceiling. After thinking for a moment, he opened his mouth.

“Uhh… Only one?”

Van raised an eyebrow at this. He was amused. After chuckling, he spread out his arms.

“Well, if you could deal with all of it, we would be able to operate as normal again.”

He said this as if it was an impossible dream.

“By the way, why is the Adventurers Guild doing it?”

“Because there is no one else.”

Due to the war being so sudden, Adventurers made up a third of the Nadar army, and so they held some of the responsibility afterwards. The country had paid them well too. However, it was taking a long time to send out the soldiers.

After all, there had been a lot of objections towards the war, and many of the soldiers were kept near the capital, for protection and to avoid civil war.

“I see. So we will be acting by accepting requests from the Adventurers Guild then… We will accept those three jobs.”

“Can you really do it…?”

Van looked at Menew doubtfully.

Menew folded his arms again and thought about it. And then he nodded.

“First, Totto and I will go and treat the wounded soldiers. As for the battlefield inspection, Mofusen and Sety can do that. Ralph will check the monsters. …I think we should be able to manage.”

He gave out the orders and then turned to Van and declared clearly that they would get it done.

Not try. They would do it.

Van suspected that Menew was overconfident with regards to his own ability.

“We will do it in one week. So please make preparations so that we can go to Caprichio.”

“I will be waiting. But I won’t expect much.”

Van sighed. He was sure that he was wasting his time with these people. And like that, he waved his hand so that they would leave him.

After being driven out of the room, they got to work at once.

Kanon would go with Ralph. Stan with Mofusen and Sety. And Mr. Wal would go with Menew and Totto.

All of them were sure that it would be done. And so their feet were not especially heavy or light.

Menew would do it in three days.

There was no panic or stress. No matter how much the Guild Master may doubt it.

It was not arrogance. They just knew.

After all, they had witnessed it many times already.

And so they left the guild and went their separate ways.

Without saying a word.
