Paintbrush Summoner – 116

Chapter 116 – Monster Battle

The next day, Menew and the others gathered together at the Adventurers Guild in order to hold a strategy meeting.

While they spoke in hushed voices, they had come to the guild as part of a camouflage.

If the guild were to know about the monster’s invasion, then it would cause quite an uproar, and be very troublesome for everyone.

As always, Menew wanted to avoid a situation where he attracted attention. If people saw and heard, then he would be more limited with what he could do.

Menew understood how too much power could result in jealousy. After all, there was a good example right in front of him.

“What?”

Staring at him resulted in a look of suspicion.

“Uh… You are looking very pretty today, Ralph.”

That earned Menew a loud smack over the head for that. It was only a joke, but Ralph had been shaken by the sight yesterday, and he did not like that Menew was not taking this seriously.

“First, while the situation is terrible, the conditions are great. As no people are in the area, we can do anything. However, I do not want to waste all of the work I did yesterday.”

Menew said with a serious expression as they all surrounded the map.

He was more concerned about the farmlands he worked on yesterday, then a horde of fifty thousand monsters.

Mofusen stroked his beard and muttered.

“Hmm. Menew. Would you trust me, and fight in the Hahinof plains?”

Obviously, Mofusen had knowledge about the lands here. Still, if it turned into a battlefield, it would just undo all of his hard work. Menew crossed his arms.

“You have some idea then?”

“Aye. If it goes well, it will improve your work even more.”

Mofusen said as if he was half sure about it.

Menew hesitated for only a moment, and then he nodded.

“Alright then. Today, we will defeat those monsters. Let’s go!”

He said quietly.

They then left the crowded building and leisurely made their way towards the Hahinof plains.

On the way, Menew told the others of his plan. Ralph shook his head, Totto looked excited, and Sety chuckled. Mofusen stroked his beard and laughed.

As for the summoned beasts, it was rather predictable for them, and so they stayed silent. What was considered normal was very different between monsters, humans and divine beasts.

When they arrived at the plains, there was not a single human or monster there.

An unless wilderness of barren soil.

Just in case, he linked with Stan and viewed the area from high above. But there was still nothing.

“First, we have to lure them out.”

Menew took out his sketchbook and summoned the same eyeballs he had used yesterday. And then he unleashed them into the forest. The monsters would be in a murderous frenzy, and so if something unknown entered the area, their instincts should make them follow it.

As for Menew, he did not even look at this as a battle with monsters.

He barely even took note of them outside of thinking that there was a lot to deal with. He would not face them head on or hold back in any way.

Yesterday, he realized something while listening to Ralph. Monsters were like a natural phenomenon.

Menew and the others ate meat as if it was the most normal thing. Monsters and animals. They were of nature.

When eating from street stalls, he often was not even sure what meat he was consuming. But he ate it anyway. He paid and he ate.

Hunt, buy, take, eat.

And he was grateful. It helped to keep him alive. Food was delicious, and he had learned to savor it.

To put it simply, this was like weeding an overgrown garden.

Was that war? No, it was just work.

As for Menew, he did not like to fight against humans.

But since these were not humans, he was not going to hold back like he usually did.

This was a clear threat. And he would be rid of it.

“Alright, everyone. Handle the ones that spill through.”

Menew said, and then the others nodded and scattered across the field.

“Damagarga, Falis, Torum, I summon you!”

Menew said, and then three giant balls appeared.

The spheres had the earth, wind and fire properties, and were about ten meters in diameter. And from them, the beasts emerged.

The mass and energy caused the wind to blow. The plowed ground sank heavily, and the ground shook as they walked.

Menew looked up at these reliable friends and said,

“You can go all out today!”

While not quite a party, they were usually quite bored, as their master did everything. And so this was good news for them.

Eventually, they heard a rumbling as the monster horde began to emerge from the forest.
