Kamigami – 60 Part 2

“How very shrewd of you. However, it did appear that your subordinate was agreeing to cooperate with the demon general?”

“It is in the spirit of the games for Hero and God to be equals. If Sheto made that decision, I must accept it.”
“In other words, you will also join the monsters?”

Salia glared back at the smiling Seer.

“No. I would leave Sheto and exit the games. It would be impossible for me to take the side of the Demon King.”

“Are you confirming then, that you will never collaborate with the demon general in the future?”

His smile broadened.

She had really just meant that if Sheto tried to join the Demon King’s army. However, he had twisted it so that it included any involvement at all.

She did not intend to help the monsters. However, it was also true that Sheto could not stand against the power of the Hero’s army alone.

She could search for other ways, but the Seer was able to monitor so much that it seemed like it would be impossible to escape him.

“What is it? Why can’t you answer immediately?”

“Surely it is plain to see. I will not do anything more that will be to your advantage.”

But she needed to say something that would get her out of this situation. And so she left all hesitation and opened her mouth.

“Since Sheto and the demon general are in that mirror, your army must be close enough to attack them. According to your own words, any accidental involvement could seem like rebellion.”
“Ridiculous. To think you would make such excuses.”

“In the first place, the demon general and I just spoke once, that is all. You are the one who is shallow and reading so much into it with your exaggerations.”
“Just spoke one?”

Furukamuto nodded with satisfaction. And then he turned around and a different image appeared on the screen.

Two red flames burst amidst the monster horde like flowers.

And in the center stood the minotaur, completely unscathed.

“Unfortunately, it was too far away for me to hear. But it appears that your subordinate was protecting the demon general.”

“Ah…he was only protecting himself.”

“And yet, it seems like the monster horde is avoiding the magic. How do you explain that?”

Next, he showed the charge towards the dragoons. Berganda threw a boulder at one of the chanting magicians with great accuracy.

“The sounds of the hooves, the charging, and the echoes of armor and weapons. And at such a distance… How was he able to target the magicians so accurately?”
“Well…”

“Unfortunately…I could not hear it…”

He said coldly. It was true that she had spoken to Berganda at that moment. And had he heard it, he would have announced it happily right now.

The fact that he brought it up like this was proof that he was not sure.

“Yes, Saliashe. There is one more thing I want to ask you.”

The mirror switched again. Now it showed the army marching at dusk.

“This morning, our army started its march. And then the Demon King’s army detected our movement because of our scouts, and they started to act… There is one strange thing regarding this.”

The monster army suddenly stopped during its march. At the same time, the knights began to gather on the hill up ahead.

“The monster scouts had not searched the area where the knights were gathered. And yet…the monsters detected the ambush, changed formation, and replaced the unit with ogres, which are the most effective against knights.”

Furukamuto smiled thinly as he questioned her.

“What power aided them to act in this way?”

She was the one who told them about the ambush and how to fight against the dragoons.

It had seemed like the best thing to do at the time, and they would have likely not survived otherwise.

And yet, it was now being used against her…

“So? You made it very clear earlier. That you will not aid the side of evil.”

The mirror vanished and he turned to her directly.

And then he pointed his finger at her.

“But after seeing how you have acted, how can you be trusted!”

“Tsk…”

Her words and actions were being used to tighten the rope around her neck. And her silence only proved her guilt.
