Day 83: The Person Who Applied.
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Seven Night Horses, 5th day.
Weather: Sunny
It’s very hot today! I am about to melt! …Ah, I hate the sun.
Even under this blistering heat, Ms. Noa is still wearing her black maid outfit… Is she alright?
Though, there are no sleeves and her skirt is shorter, so there is less cloth covering her…
As I worried about such things, we arrived at the Adventurers Guild.
Right outside of the building, some of the guild workers were putting up a strange board on the window.
It was a board with countless holes arranged neatly in vertical and horizontal rows.
In each of the outer holes, something like a large funnel was fitted in.
What is that…? I’ve never seen it before.
When I asked the sweaty lady, the answer was quite surprising!
Apparently, it helped to cool the inside of the room… Really?
I entered the guild doubtfully…and strangely enough, it was cool!!
After finishing their work, they came back inside and explained it to me smugly.
That board was a cooling device that did not require mana. The Alchemist Guild had created it recently.
And since it was easy to make and affordable, they were becoming quite popular in the countryside.
Ahh, magic cooling devices usually used snow or ice magic, and were horrifyingly expensive…
After that, while I cooled off and searched for a quest, I was called to the front desk.
Aside from the lady there, a single girl was standing with her.
She looked at us with an anxious expression.
Uh…who are you?
As I wondered this, the receptionist informed me that she had answered our ad.
Well, that was surprisingly fast! Well then, let’s have a talk!
We moved to the bar and drank some tea while introducing ourselves.
Her name was Nico Flamel.
An Alchemist with an Adventurer rank of D. She appeared to be about the same age as me.
She had messy silver hair and round spectacles. In spite of the heat, she was wearing long sleeve white robes. Indeed, she looked like an Alchemist who stayed indoors all day doing their research.
Also, she was short and moved hesitantly, like some kind of small critter. It was rather cute.
Still, what should we do… We had asked for a priest or priestess who can use healing magic.
As I looked troubled over this, Ms. Nico offered me a small vial filled with a blue liquid.
Apparently, it was a healing potion that she had made. She added that she could make antidotes and other things as well…
Hmm… Potions… It wasn’t as immediately effective as magic, but…
We asked Ms. Nico to wait at the tables, and Ms. Noa and I moved to a corner in order to discuss it.
Ms. Noa was feeling quite positive. She said it was not realistic to wait and hope for a priest.
That was true… And the potion looked like it was of high quality.
…Alright, then. Let’s try forming a party with her!
There was only so much we could learn through talking.
And so it was decided.
While I told her that it was just a trial period, she was incredibly happy.
I will do my very best! She said. Hmm… I was starting to feel that this would work out!!
In any case, we disbanded for the day, and would resume for real tomorrow.
After all, Ms. Nico had her own preparations to make.
Now, I just need to find a good quest that we could take on tomorrow…
