Day 112: Pursuers of the Sea
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Moon Sheep, 3rd day.
Weather: Sunny
Now, today we would go out to the beach again to gather materials for the deodorizer.
Apparently, they still needed a lot more of them.
And since no one else was making them, we might as well earn money while we could!
And so we took some box lunches with us and went to the beach.
Hmm. It’s just as filthy as the day before yesterday… Where did all of this trash come from…
…But there was no point in worrying about that now. Let’s start gathering the materials.
Just like last time, we split up and gathered shells, stones, driftwood and mysterious bones.
Ah, you can play in the water, Soshio.
A few hours later…
Just slightly past midday, we were able to gather all the materials that we needed.
Ah…I got so absorbed in gathering that I forgot to eat my lunch…
While it was a little late, let’s have lunch.
And so I ate lunch on the beach with the other two.
Even if it was a dirty beach, the edges were rather nice, and so we rested there.
Phew… It was nice to have a more relaxing job once in a while.
Huh? Now that I think about it, Soshio hasn’t returned yet. I hope everything is alright…
After we finished eating, we started to prepare to leave. But Soshio still did not return…
Ah! Could it be that Soshio was attacked by a swarm of Lemora…
As I began to be worried, I heard that familiar neigh!
I turned my head to look and saw that Soshio was quite far away on the sea.
Huh? Something was strange. Soshio was being chased by something and looked frantic.
When I looked to the back and squinted my eyes… I saw that there were two horse-like creatures.
They couldn’t be kelpy… They were supposed to live in rivers and lakes.
Hmm… Ah, now I remember. Monster horses that live in the sea!
…Sea Horses. Hippocampus!
The front half was a horse and the back half was a fish.
It also had fins, a mane and its front legs had webs instead of hooves.
It really was a horse that ran on water.
But, what should we do… They will catch up with Soshio at this rate.
Kelpy and Hippocampus. They looked similar, but the latter would be much faster.
I have to do something…
As I wondered what to do, Ms. Noa stepped forward and said to leave it to her.
She was holding a long bow in her hand. When had she pulled that out?
Ca-can you really reach them!? At this distance!?
As I looked shocked, Ms. Noa reminded me that she was a quarter elf… Ms. Noa really was amazing.
She drew and unleashed. The arrow flew straight towards one of the Hippocampus.
However, it barely missed it. But that was fine.
Because it was shocked by the sudden attack and slowed down.
In the meantime, Soshio arrived at the beach. Once Soshio was on land, it would be fine.
The Hippocampus glared at us for some time, but they left us eventually.
What was that? Ah, we have to hurry back.
