The fenrirs had encountered some monsters
“Papa and sister Claire are always talking about difficult things…”
“Ah, sorry, Liza.”
“While it is important, I guess we can discuss it later.”
Liza looked a little sulky as Claire and I were deep in conversation.
I didn’t mean to exclude her, but it was probably lonely having people talk about something that you didn’t understand.
Liza had been happy at the sight of the brick road, so I should have just ended it there.
“Oh, everyone is gathered together up ahead.”
“It looks like they are gathering in front of Rahle.”
Shortly after I changed the conversation to something more light-hearted, I saw the fenrirs up ahead.
In order to not surprise people who didn’t know, they had stopped a short distance away from the road on the south side.
Rahle was standing in the front, and looked like a leader. Well, Rahle did have monster subordinates, and so it made sense.
“Hey, Rahle!”
“Wuff!”
“Kii!”
Upon seeing us, Rahle spread out its wings and cried. The light reflected off of the copper feathers. Even though they were soft to the touch, they had a beautiful, metallic look.
“Huh…? It looks like people are carrying something near the fenrirs…?”
The fenrirs were sitting down politely. But the people who had been riding them, mainly as guides, were carrying something quickly. Well, some of them were waving at us.
“Huh? Well, let’s go and find out.”
In any case, it would be best to reunite with them and ask. And so we approached Ralhe and the others.
“Orcs…and goblins.”
“It looks like it…”
We quickly caught up with the others, and as Tilura happily rushed towards Rahle, we checked to see what the servants were carrying.
It was the monsters that the fenrirs had hunted when passing through the forest.
From what the servants said, they were not even searching for the monsters. And had only hunted the ones they bumped into.
Currently, they were gathering them all into one pile.
“Chi-chi!”
“Chii!”
“Grau.”
The cockatrices were landing on the heads of the fenrirs and praising them.
We didn’t really care about rank…but fenrirs were supposed to be stronger as monsters.
Well, they were wagging their tails and seemed to be happy.
“Kyau. Kyau-kyau.”
“I see…”
“They say that there were a lot of monsters when passing through!”
“Hmm…”
Sherry told Claire, while Liza told me what she had heard from the fenrirs.
“I suppose we should talk to Sebastian and others about it.”
“Indeed.”
“Uh… Leo? Could you help the fenrirs with carving the meat? It will be easier to carry that way.”
“Wuff!”
“Liza, you should be with Sherry and…play with the children and the fenrirs. I think that should help them relax.”
“Okay!”
“Kyau!”
I decided to have Liza be with the children from the orphanage, who could not hide their curiosity. Besides, it would probably be reassuring to have Liza and Sherry play with them.
Also, Keith and Jane were looking after the fenrirs.
As for the employees, they looked intimidated by the number of fenrirs. I had told them that there would be a lot, but they were not expecting there to be this much… Evening being used to Fen, Feri and Riruru was not enough.
Though, Ms. Emeralda was petting them with a big smile on her face.
She was even calling the others to join her. So they would surely get used to them soon.
Fenrirs were usually very calm and did not become angry easily.
The servants of the mansion had also been afraid in the beginning, but they got used to them in no time…
