My Beloved Dog is the Strongest in Another World – 1289

There was something that the monsters feared

“Sebastian, Alfred. About the monsters that the fenrirs hunted…”
“They said something that was concerning.”

I approached the lead carriage and spoke to Alfred and Sebastian. Hermine and Lyra were also with us.

“What do you mean?”
“Umm…”

And so I told them what we had heard from the fenrirs.

As for the servants, they had been too busy with carrying the fallen monsters, and so they did not notice anything.

“Monsters… Yes, that is concerning.”

“Even though monsters do live in that forest, they were only passing through in a place close to Ractos. So it is odd to be encountering so many.”

They had not gone deep into the forest. Nor had they been searching for monsters.

And yet, they had encountered so many of them.

“According to the fenrirs, the monsters weren’t so much gathering in that area on purpose… But it seemed like they were running away from something.”
“It would be rather unusual for orcs and goblins to be running away…”

I agreed with Alfred.

After all, orcs would charge right at Leo…

“If they are running from something… That means there is something deep in the forest. Hmm…”

“Though, the fenrirs did say that they could not sense anything dangerous.”

There would surely be more monsters if we went deeper in. But the fenrirs said that there was no threat big enough to make orcs and goblins run away.

“If it makes monsters run away… What if it is only a threat to monsters? And not humans?”
“That would be a relief. However, it is still troubling to think such a thing is so close to the town.”
“Indeed…”

As long as their home was in the forest, the monsters usually did not leave. But there were always rare cases… In fact, we had sometimes spotted them while the fenrirs went on walks around the mansion.

It was because of this that the soldiers had regular patrols where they fended off the monsters so they would stay away.

“Hmm?”
“…I can hear something.”
“It sounds like someone is shouting.”
“Yes… But I don’t see anyone…”

Claire, Alfred and Sebastian could hear it too.

But when we looked around at the servants, guards and employees, there was no one raising their voice like that.

If anything, many of them looked confused and were also looking around.

“Leo and the fenrirs are facing the same direction. Could it be…”

“It appears to be so…”

They had sharper senses than humans when it came to hearing, and their ears were pointing straight upwards.

Rahle was looking too. Even Sherry and Liza…

“…Fenrirs…! Attack…town…!!”
“Wait…! E…!!”

Perhaps they were getting closer, as I could hear some words being shouted more clearly.

“Claire. Doesn’t that voice sound a little familiar?”

“You thought so too, Mr. Takumi?”

Also, it sounded like they were chasing after the fenrirs?

But who would chase after fenrirs in the forest? Normally, you would be running away…
