He came just to pass the time
“Sorry, sorry. I got side-tracked again. Uhh… And so I decided to leave Range Village and come out to meet you. After all, I knew that you would be passing through Ractos, so I might as well wait there instead.”
“So you were staying in Ractos?”
“Yes. Up until yesterday.”
“Yesterday? Well…you did seem to be coming out of the forest… Though, I couldn’t see anything.”
Claire looked at him, puzzled.
The ice wall had covered our vision during the clash of magic. But even before that, we had not been able to see either of them.
We just heard the voices coming from the direction of the forest.
“I was using magic to make myself invisible. If I’m not wrong…it’s a spell used by a certain monster, not humans.”
Euto’s Gift allowed him to use any kind of magic.
“But why did you have to be invisible? Well…I guess you were expecting to fight the fenrirs, so it would be an advantage?”
“No, no. I doubt such a trick would even work against fenrirs. Besides, I was chanting pretty loudly.”
That was true…
“It was more like a covert ops…to punish the villains. When I was in Ractos, I heard a rumor that made me want to investigate… And so I turned invisible so I wouldn’t be seen.”
“A rumor? Something that made you come out here…”
“Well, we can discuss that later. I already solved it, so I’ll tell you about it on the way to Range Village. Uh…Sebastian, is it? The one with the typical butler name. If you are going to send someone to Ractos to explain what happened, you should also have guards sent to the forest…”
“Uh, ah…certainly. I will see that it’s done.”
Sebastian was not used to receiving requests from royalty, and though a little awkward, he quickly complied.
“So, that’s how it is. Work…and passing the time? Once it was done, I was going to return to Ractos, when I saw the fenrirs. I knew that fenrirs live in these forests, but thought that there must be some reason for there to be so many of them, and so close to the town.”
“And so you attacked them…”
“That’s a rude way to view it. Well, maybe I did… But it was quite a surprise to see so many… If they wanted to, they could destroy Ractos…”
And so he attacked first.
I didn’t know what would have happened if they were hit by the magic, but I doubted all of the fenrirs would have come out just fine.
If they were going to attack humans, he probably thought it would be best to decrease their numbers first.
“But the fenrirs are now our friends and… Ah, the last time we met in Range Village, they hadn’t come out of the forest yet…”
“Yes, now that I think about it. After we returned to the mansion from Range Village, Fen and Riruru visited and brought Feri.”
“Normally, a person would run away if they saw that many fenrirs…”
“Are you saying I’m not normal? How insulting.”
“…But after seeing so many of them, you attacked with magic. And such a powerful spell! Surely you knew about how it would affect the surrounding area!”
“…I guess?”
“Hmph…”
Ms. Lugretta and Euto were fighting again…
I really felt bad for Ms. Lugretta.
Most of her troubles probably came from the fact that she seemed to like him…but why was he acting so oblivious?
Well, he had lived for so long, so perhaps becoming a little indifference was just inescapable.
Life was not just full of happy events. He would have experienced some sad times as well… I’m pretty sure he had said something to that effect before.
Perhaps that was why he preferred to see this world as more of a game now.
He had even joked about Leo being a secret boss…
