Kamigami – 78 Part 6

‘That’s the spirit, runt! I’m counting on you to hold the line!’

Leaping over the row of spears, the demon general’s body plunged straight into the center of the enemy formation. And without losing momentum, he swung his axe wildly with brute force.

‘Arrrghaaahhh!’

‘Ahhhhhh!!’

He was like a massive spinning top, far beyond anything the kobold could manage in scale and power. A rampage through enemy ranks. The humans caught in his path were crushed, flung aside, and reduced to heaps of mangled flesh.

‘Good! Now follow after me!’

The demon general’s roar echoed across the battlefield, and the horde of monsters that had been on the brink of death suddenly surged back to life.

And like that, the raging tide forced its way through the gap that Berganda had torn open.

“Da-damn it! All units, fall back! Return to formation and switch from manipulus to tercio!”

“Too late, too late. See? Behind you.”

He turned towards the main camp. The kobold was riding the wolf, and breaking through the human lines and charging straight to the rear of the retreating forces.

“What are you doing, Yasuharu! Even if you cannot kill them, you must at least keep them in place!”

While standing upright on the wolf that ran at full speed, the kobold drew back his bow.

Silver coiled around the golden arrow, layering it with protection.

And then it was unleashed.

Two magic projectiles imbued with break arts struck the Hero’s formation from behind. Caught off guard by the sudden ambush, the unit fell into disarray. The kobold seized the opening and took down the soldiers with rapid shots.

‘There you are, Sheto!’

The minotaur blasted away the last cluster of humans with his blood-soaked axed, and then he joined up with the kobold.

‘What an exhilarating feeling! This is what battle should be like!’

‘Not…fun for me. Still, enemy Hero, panicking. I think. That is…good.’

The two monsters chuckled, and then took up position, back to back, in order to face the enemy.

“…Reset.”

Furukamuto shouted angrily.

“Reset now, Yasuharu!”

And then the image in the water mirror turned black suddenly.

Everything had returned to the moment during dusk, when he had saved.

The council chamber was completely silent now. His outburst had swallowed up every murmur of the audience. Even Salia was merely staring at him with stunned silence.

“You’ve really done it, eh?”

The Dragon God mused.

His voice was casual, as if this was nothing.

“…What?”

“You reset. That’s what I said.”

But Furukamuto sensed the pressure within those words.

“Up until now, you did it by your own will. But for the first time, you were made to reset when you didn’t want to.”

“And…what of it…?”

“Nothing.”

The Dragon God said with a spiteful grin.

There was a hungry gleam in his eyes, like a predator who was about to devour the weakened prey in front of him.

“Fi. I’be sent the next plan to your smartphone. Explain it to the demon general and see that it’s carried out.”

‘Ah, uh… Wait, thi-this plan…!’

The small dragon groaned and sighed.

‘You really have a twisted personality, you know! I know that I’m one to talk, but still!’

“Your view is not my concern. Get moving and issue the orders. There is no time.”

‘Yes, yes. Got it.’

And then the Dragon God turned back, addressing the Seer with the same chilling smile from before.

“Now then… Shall we proceed?”

In that moment, Furukamuto felt that he had truly seen it.

Deadly venom. Dripping from the savage jaws of the dragon.
