Leo could smell her favorite food from a distance
“Wuff!”
“Papa!”
“Oh!? Leo? Liza!?”
I walked away from the camp site and towards the forest, where the fenrirs were gathered together. Then I heard Leo’s voice.
And then she came running towards me at a great speed… It was as she appeared in front of me as soon as I noticed her.
And Liza was on her back.
“Hah-hah-hah…! Wuff!”
She sat down in front of me and panted with a smile and wagging tail.
Liza slid off of her back…but landed on her feet.
“Was it this?”
“Wou!”
“Mama is so happy!”
I showed her the sausages and Leo barked towards the sky.
…I had been quite a distance away still, but she somehow managed to catch its scent.
“Huh? It looks like Feri is coming this way too.”
“It looks like it. Perhaps he also smelled…”
“Wou…?”
I turned to look where Ms. Lyra was pointing, and saw that Feri was also running towards us from the direction of the forest.
Leo did not sound happy. She probably thought he would try to eat her portion.
—
“Gurrr…”
“Hey, don’t leave me here!”
“Huh? Fairinette?”
“Wuff?”
After waiting a moment, Feri arrived with the furry fairy stuck to his head.
Leo and I looked at them with puzzled expressions.
Apparently, she was angry at Leo?
“Leo suddenly ran away, so everyone was surprised… But she was playing happily with the children just a moment ago. What happened!?”
“Gurr? Gurr?”
“Wu-wuf…”
Apparently, the children had been playing with Leo and the fenrirs.
Fairinette was floating in front of Leo and protesting angrily.
Feri was just curious about what had happened.
Leo looked away and pretended to be ignorant.
I suppose she didn’t want to bring up the sausages, as Feri might take them.
Of course, I was holding them in my hands for all to see…
“So you brought Fairinette over here. Good Feri.”
“Gurr. Gurr.”
“I asked him because it was so far away…”
“Wuff…”
Feri wagged his tail happily as Liza praised him.
Apparently, Liza had been riding on Leo while they were playing, but Fairinette had moved away for a moment.
And then Leo smelled the sausages, and came running.
“Sniff-sniff… Gurr?”
“He said he smelled something good…but expected hamburgers!”
“Hahaha. Feri sure likes hamburgers. Sorry, but these are sausages for Leo. She likes hamburgers too, but will always choose sausages over anything else.”
“Gurrr…”
“Don’t look so disappointed… It takes a lot of time to make hamburgers.”
Well, it actually took longer to make sausages from scratch, but we were currently traveling.
And so we had brought meat that was easier to preserve.
Still, we had plenty of food now, thanks to the fenrirs. So maybe we could make hamburgers with the leftover meat. I would ask Ms. Helena about it later.
Besides, Liza enjoyed helping with that.
“…Wou?”
Leo asked Feri.
I could sense her hope for him to refuse, but it was nice that she was making an offer, instead of outright keeping them all to herself…
