Realist Demon King – 60

PAGE 1

“Huh? What were you impressed with?”

He looked puzzled.

Apparently, he was not aware of his talents either.

As Eve and Jeanne were also confused, I decided to explain it here.

And so I invited him to tea.

We could take a short break here while Eve put on some tea.

“I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you. Besides, I’ll lose the others if I lag behind any further.”

The boy said stubbornly.

“Don’t worry. Your friends have stopped to eat about five-hundred meters ahead. You will not lose them now if you rest with us.”

As proof, I conjured up a screen in the air and showed him what they were doing. The boy’s stomach grumbled.

He saw them eating and realized that he was also hungry.

Eve chuckled at this and brought out some cookies from her bag.

The smell of butter and sugar soon filled the air, stimulating his appetite.

He was soon unable to resist the temptation, and with a slightly reddened face, said,

“…I would be glad to partake of your hospitality.”

“Honesty pays.”

I said. Then I ordered Hanzo to carry half of his luggage so he could lower the rest to the ground.

Hanzo obeyed as if it were the most obvious thing, but the moment he accepted one bag, his face contorted and his back bent.

“…Ughhh. Wh-what is this weight!?”

He was surprised.

Jeanne was curious enough to give it a try, but could not even lift it off of the ground.

“De-demon king. What is this?”

“It seems to contain ore from this dungeon.”

“Yes, Gottlieb did say that this dungeon yielded a lot of dark ore.”

Then Jeanne said,

“So this boy was carrying all of this weight while moving around and supporting the others? …Is he some kind of monster?”

‘I’m human.’ The boy insisted. But now everyone was curious as to how such a slight frame could contain so much power.

He seemed to be embarrassed about this attention. I felt bad for him, and so we ended the interrogation there so we could drink our tea.

Eve had already prepared a table and was pouring the tea into cups.

The fragrance spread in the air.

It was just the thing to help us regain our energy after exploring the dungeon.

The boy seemed to especially like the cookies Eve had served. ‘I’ve never eaten anything so delicious.’ he said with a smile.

It was rather endearing.

I wanted to ask him some questions as we drank our tea, but Jeanne spoke first.

“Very impressive, Demon King. How did you know he had such talents?”

It’s a necessary skill for a Demon King. I muttered. But I was quite confident in my ability to observe.

His bag had gotten bigger the deeper we went. And there were times when I saw chunks of ore fall out of it.

And yet he did not look like he was having much trouble.

The others in his team had faces easily forgotten, but the boy was immediately memorable.

He would surely be great one day. That was something that I felt.

Eve heard this and joked.

“Why not make him your page then?”

She mused.

I was not interested in that. Besides, I had enough trouble keeping a Saint and Maid with me. Everyone laughed at that.
