Paintbrush Summoner – 4

Chapter 4 – The typical battle, eh? I understand.

“So it’s like this…”

That was his first reaction upon arriving at the town. His reaction had been pretty much the same when coming to this world, but it could not be helped, as his vocabulary was rather limited.

Regardless, it was a charming townscape of brick buildings that sprawled out before him.

There had been guards at the gate, however, they had not looked at him with suspicion or required any papers.

He wondered what to do first, and remembered the time he had worked on an anime in the Isekai genre. Yes, the main character had gone to the Adventurers Guild.

So that should be his first destination, he thought. But then he suddenly had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.

(In these Isekai stories, they always…)

Thud… Footsteps that shook the earth. And then the sound of screaming.

“Someone! Help me! It’s a giant trooolll!”

“Of course, it is.”

It was so typical of these stories to have a powerful enemy appear in the beginning.

However, defeating them easily was part of the set.

(But I still don’t know how to look at my status…)

As Menew stood near the entrance to the town, a large merchant-looking man came running towards him, and behind was a giant troll that wielded a club.

While the troll was not running very fast, neither was the merchant. Besides, it had longer strides. Though there was still some distance, from his perspective, the troll seemed like it was as tall as a three-story building.

It would reach them in no time.

“Well, I guess it’s time to test my skills then.”

He would trust Seker’s words about the added reincarnation bonus.

If things went wrong, he would curse Seker with his dying breath.

(After all, I haven’t even drawn anything in this world yet!)

It was just as Menew thought this, that the paintbrushes and sketchbook jumped out from his pouch.

“…Huh?”

He didn’t understand. His mind could not keep up with what was happening.

However, he did understand something, as someone who had been involved in animation.

“So, I’m supposed to use them, right!?”

He shouted to no one in particular, and then he rushed towards the giant troll.

The closer he got, the stronger the stench became. The green skin and drool were disgusting.

The gatekeeper tried to stop him, but Menua brushed him off and continued to run towards the giant troll. On the way, the merchant passed him. And he checked to make sure that he safely reached the town.

And then he used the brush to draw the magic that he thought would be able to defeat the troll. Use this. Surely this was what he was supposed to do. He did not know of any other way.

Most mysteriously, the brush was able to draw with any color he thought of. Even the firmness of the brush could be automatically changed from that of a pencil to an air brush.

A technologically advanced pen tablet? He mused as he finished drawing a lightning spear.

“I won’t forgive you, Seker, if this turns out to be nothing but a fancy drawing set!”

Menew shouted as he thrust the sketchbook in the direction of the giant troll. And then, the ‘Great Thunder Spear’ shot out of the sketchbook and pierced into the troll’s chest.

“Wha…”

The ground shook violently, and with a crash, the giant troll fell to the ground in front of Menew’s stunned eyes.
