Cave King – 235

Chapter 235 – Groundless Fear!

The day after Prince Ruda declared that they would invade Sylphium.
In order to stop the battle, we decided to go and meet with Remlik.

First, I contacted Sylphium and Sheorl, telling them of the invasion, through the golems.

I told Sheorl to be prepared, in case we had to fight. And that they should think of ways of preventing it.

Well, in the end, I ended up telling them myself.

Because we returned to Sheorl once.
Through the teleportation gate in the Leorl mountain.

While we took Mappa with us, the teleportation gate was not broken, and so we just needed to open it, and were able to connect with the Sheorl underground.

After that, I just needed to dig upwards, and we came out into the familiar Sheorl mines.

Now, it would be easy to go back and forth to Langs.

Of course, there was the possibility of someone else using it to get into Sheorl.
And so I had golems stationed near the gate in order to protect it.

And now, I had called Baris and the ministers of Sheorl, and held a meeting in the government building.

I had not seen the sea in a long time, but there was no time to look at it, as I told the others about Remlik and the invasion.

Baris said,

“I understand. After hearing the previous reports, I cannot say it is very surprising that Vader would try to expand like that.”

Erevan also beat his chest and said,

“We have finished preparations to protect Sylphium. One word from you, chief, and we can go!”

They had all prepared for the worst.
They showed no signs of being sad, as they expected this.

Baris continued in a calm voice.

“However, sending reinforcements to Sylphium is a last resort. The first thing we should focus on is stopping it before it happens. And the first step is to make contact with this Prince Remlik—we have no reason to object to this.”
“For him to be arrested…these brothers must be on bad terms. Surely he will lend you a hand, chief.”

Erevan nodded.
Both of them agreed.

Just then, Ashton muttered.

“It is difficult for outsiders to tell how brothers get along. I am not against going to meet him. But we should consider the possibility that they are working together, and plan for that outcome.”
“You worry too much, brother. With brothers in royal families, it’s common that one parent is different. Just look at master Heal’s younger bro… Ah, excuse me.”

Haines apologized, but I shook my head.

“No, you are right, Haines. Due to their position, royals often oppose each other. Often for the succession… Of course, we should also consider the possibility that they are close. As Ashton says, we have to prepare for any outcome.”

And then Baris opened his mouth.

“Yes, it would be best to be able to deal with anything… Aside from the princess and Fule, we should have others help with the plan.”
“Huh? Lord Baris, we don’t need anyone else.”

Fule said with a look of dissatisfaction. But Erevan shook his head.

“We don’t know what these people are like, and you are jumping into their nest. The princess is one thing, but you are not reliable. I should…”
“You will stick out too much, father… Also, I know that you just want to go wild and make a scene.”

Fule said, and Erevan protested.

Rienna thought about it for a moment, and then said,

“If it is to protect Lord Heal, the two of us will be enough. However, Prince Remlik was so fast with the sword that we could not see him… It is possible that Prince Ruda will be just as skilled.”

I nodded at this.

“It will help if someone who was skilled with weapons and martial arts came as well.”
“Then I am the best choice!”
Erevan said, but Ashton argued otherwise.

“Indeed, Erevan is the strongest. But when it comes to speed, I have the upper hand. Please leave it to me.”
“No, I have a better sense of smell than my brother! Master Please take me!”

Haines said as well.

It wasn’t just about fighting. I think they all wanted to go outside of Sheorl once in a while…

Baris must have sensed the air as well, as he then made a suggestion.

“Two princes… It is possible that even the general, Sir Ashton, and Sir Haines together will not be enough. And so perhaps all three should go?”

Fule looked concerned.

“But all three are leading armies in Sheorl? Surely they cannot just leave.”
“I will be here, and right now, Borthion and Aries can also lead the troops. There is also Coppa and the powerful Chimeras. More than anything, we have the powerful weapons that are the Mado Armors. So the general and others can leave for a few days without causing any problems.”

Erevan nodded to those words.

“Yes. We have trained the Sheorl warriors to be able to deal with anything—even several leviathans. There is no need to worry.”
“Revan is right. Besides, if we are to face against Vader, then we should get a glimpse of their strength.”

Ashton said.

“Or do you think we three will hold you back…?”

Haines asked me with a worried expression.

As did Erevan and Ashton.

“No-not at all. If anything, I am relieved. If Baris says he can do without you, it would be a great help for you three to come with us.”

Remlik might still be hiding something.
And the older brother might be even stronger.

So I was grateful that these three would accompany us.

Upon hearing this, Erevan raised his voice with joy.

“I knew you would agree!”
“We will not let you down.”
“Do not worry, we will be useful!”

Ashton and Haines also shouted cheerfully.

And then Baris said,

“It’s decided then. Well, you really do not need to worry about Sheorl. We are expanding our security range, and have noticed nothing unusual. And so, for Sheorl’s future, you should focus on contacting Prince Remlike and ending the invasion.”

I nodded at this.

“I’m glad that you feel this way. Also…if something does happen…”
“We have already planned for that as well.”

Said Baris, and Fule’s eyes widened.

“Amazing… You understood what Lord Heal was going to say?”
“I am surprised too… You did?”

Baris smiled and answered.

“Of course. If Sylphium is to fall, and the demihumans of Langs put in danger… You are worried about that.”

I was at a loss for words.

“Exactly…”
“Baris. That’s amazing…”

Erevan and the others were in awe.

Baris looked quite proud.

“I am the best at knowing what Lord Heal is thinking. But enough boasting. As for your concern, we have considered the possibility of accepting them into Sheorl. Thanks to the Sylphium, our harvests should increase dramatically, and there is plenty of space underground. So there is no need for worry.”
“I-I see.”

I had been anxious about leaving Sheorl for a long time, but I now felt foolish for worrying.

Baris and many others were good at their job.

And so I would focus on Remlik.

“Everyone, thank you. Well then, I will go and meet Remlik tomorrow. Though, there is no guarantee that he will be in the mansion or prisons…”

The demihumans wanted to return the favor, and so they offered to watch the house for me.
They said they would let us know if someone like Remlik left.
However, no such report had come in.

Rienna opened her mouth.

“Still, I think the prison is the most likely…”
“Well, there is only one way to find out. More importantly, should we go with that plan?”

Fule said, and Baris laughed.

“You seem to understand quite well too now.”
“Anyone would understand it.”

The others nodded.

For a second, I did not know what Fule was talking about.

But after thinking about it calmly, it came to me.

I picked up my pick axe and said.

“With this.”

Reach the mansion and prison through the ground…

The next day, we would go back to Langs in order to meet Remlik.
