The Mountain Was Impressive Too!

We followed after the Mopes until we reached the area near the top of the mountain.

Celes and the Mopes were already running around through the highlands and taking naps.

“It’s finally become cooler. And I can see the Tengus now.”

As we neared the mountain top, more and more Tengus came into view.

“Oh, it’s Sir Joshua and the others!”
“It’s been a while since they last came!”

Mette approached the Tengus who worked in the fields, and greeted them while holding up the giant kaizer bass that we had caught earlier.

“We caught this in the river! Let’s cut it open!”

Upon hearing this, the Tengus started to gather around.

“There is more than one. And so we should all eat together.”

I took out the fish that I had stored in magic workshop and offered it to the Tengus. And then Mette and the Tengus started to prepare them.

“It became a good gift.”

Iria nodded.

“Yes, I’m glad that they like it. However, they are all people that I see often in the village, so it feels strange.”
“Indeed… Unlike us, they are able to go back and forth quite easily.”

I answered. And then Melk looked around as if suddenly noticing something.

“The fields were not as big before.”

As she noted, there were terraced fields that had not been on the mountain during our last visit.

Asuha nodded.

“Ecleshia and the Ents told us what kind of plants we could grow on top of the mountain. We have potatoes that grow very quickly, and they are delicious.”

Apparently, the tribes had become quite close without me knowing it. As the Ents knew a lot about plants, they could be relied on for anything related to farming.

Iria looked at the holes in the mountain and said,

“However, the mountain top does not seem very different since Joshua helped with it.”
“Well, it is already very comfortable and durable. The village shared bedding and furniture with us, and so our lives are quite rich.”

Asuha said with a satisfied expression.

The mountain had caves that I had dug so that the Tengus would have a place to live. There were numerous chambers inside, and it was like a small, underground city.

And so I was very happy to hear that they liked it.

While maintaining the path and cableway to the mountaintop, I said,

“Still, it would be convenient if you could go from your house to the midslope of the mountain, and so I think that I should increase the number of exits. There are no enemies outside now, and so there is no reason for there to be only one entrance on the top.”

Asuha bowed her head at this.

“Thank you, Sir Joshua. Yes, it will make traveling much easier for everyone.”

When I was finished making the cableway, I asked Asuha,

“Is there anything else that I should make? I brought a lot of material today, so just say anything. I could even build houses, like the ones in the village.”
“We are more than satisfied with what we currently have. You really mustn’t worry about us.”

Said Asuha. And then Melk said,

“Don’t be modest. Joshua is bored, because there is nothing to make recently.”
“That…might be true?”

Without knowing it, I wanted to make things that were needed.

Iria answered.

“Yes, you do not need to hesitate, Ms. Asuha. It doesn’t even have to be something that has to be made, but anything else we can do…”
“Everyone… Well, if you insist…”

Asuha closed her eyes. She must be thinking of something she could request.

However, she frowned and murmured.

And then Melk muttered.

“Asuha is thinking very hard.”
“I suppose that shows how well their lives are here…”

As Iria said, perhaps the Tengus were just satisfied with their current life.

And so I turned to Asuha, who was starting to look like she was in pain.

“Uh, you really don’t have to force yourself to think of something. Perhaps it will just come to you later. And I will visit whenever that happens.”
“I’m so sorry, Sir Joshua. And you came all of this way…”

Asuha answered seriously.
Now she was exaggerating…

However, Asuha then looked over to where Mette and the Tengus were cooking the kaizer bass, and then she seemed to have an idea.

And then she turned to me.

“I know… There is something I wanted to ask you about.”
“You did?”
“Yes. It is not like we wish to compete with them or anything, but you know how people from the alliance travel to the Kappa’s White Sand Island now? We Tengus took our children there recently, and everyone was jealous of how lively it was.”

Iria nodded.

“Yes, White Sand Island is thriving even more than our village, it seems. The beach is very popular, as is their ice cream.”
“Yes. And so we were wondering if we could not attract people to our mountain as well.”

And then Melk answered.

“Make mountain ice cream.”
“Copying them… I don’t know if…”

Asuha said with a chuckle.

“Well, we make ice cream in the village as well, so there is nothing wrong with making it here. However, if you make the same thing, then people might not come all of the way here for it. Besides, the mountain is cool, so people won’t crave cold things as much.”

And then Melk made a suggestion.

“In that case, make it so you can play with the mountain cableway. It would be fun to slide down.”
“That is… Well, some people might enjoy it. What I made today is for the transportations of supplies, but I could make another one that is more durable and safe.”

I said, and then Iria answered with a concerned expression.

“I might be too scared for that…”
“Don’t worry, nothing is more scary than Iria.”
“Ms. Melk. Did you say something?”

Melk shook her head.

“Well, well. It’s true that it’s a matter of taste. So it would be best to have one other kind of facility on the mountain as well, that you would only find here.”
“Only on the mountain…”

Asuha started to think, but this time, it did not take her long to have an idea.

“Yes, I recalled while on the island, but… Previously, we looked at the starry sky on White Sand Island, didn’t we?”
“Aye. It was very beautiful.”
“Yes. However…it is even more beautiful when you view the stars from on top of this mountain.”

Upon hearing this, both Melk and Iria seemed a little surprised.

Asuha answered frantically.

“I-I’m sorry! Of course, the night sky seen from the island is also beautiful. And the sounds of the waves are wonderful! I am not saying the island is bad!”

And then Melk and Iria shook their heads.

“That’s not what was meant.”
“Yes. If that is what you say, Ms. Asuha. It must be even prettier on the mountain.”

Indeed, it was unusual for Asuha to compare things.
And so she must be very confident about the night sky here.

“In that case, I could make a place where you could view the stars… I can just smell the cooked kaizer bass now. Perhaps it could be a place where you can eat such things. With a terrace.”
“Or it could be like that palace you built before. With a dome where you can see the sky!”

I nodded at Iria’s suggestion.

“Aye. I will start building right away.

And like this, I decided to build a facility that would attract visitors to the mountain.
