Chapter 252 – The Sky Cleared!
“The rain…”
“The lightning…”
Ashton and Haines also peered out, and looked as if they could not believe it.
The rain and lightning from earlier had stopped completely.
A rainbow hung in the sky, and the sun’s reflection glimmered on the wet plains.
As everyone looked stunned, Rienna smiled.
“Perhaps…it has run out of magic energy! We can counter…”
“No, no, there is no way it ran out! This time, wish for it to rain!”
Rienna looked puzzled by Fule’s words.
“Y-you want me to wish for it?”
“Yes! Just like before. When you wished it would stop raining!”
“Ve-very well… Ah!”
Rienna looked outside in surprise.
The rain and lightning had returned.
“Now wish for it to clear up! And then when it does, wish for the rain and lightning again!”
“Ye-yes! Uh…”
Rienna’s eyes widened as she saw the weather change.
“Lo-lord Heal… The weather is being affected by my wishes…”
“It sure looks like it.”
“But why would…”
“I don’t know. But this has happened before. That time… When the devil hoppers attacked Sheorl, and it rained. Also, Baris’s water magic that put out the fires in Sylpheum. That was you, wasn’t it, Rienna?”
It wasn’t just that.
When the dark skies of Arancia brightened up. Rienna had wished for the sun to come out.
Perhaps there were other times that Rienna changed the weather.
Fule’s voice quivered as she looked at Rienna.
“In a way, it is more amazing than Heal’s Cave King…”
“It-it must be some kind of mistake!”
Rienna said, but it was clear that she was controlling the weather.
We had witnessed it changing rapidly in seconds. It was no natural phenomenon.
“Either your crest changed when evolving or you acquired a new power…”
“Th-that might be it. In fact, it has actually been like this for a long time. When I wished for the weather to be sunny, it would be sunny the following day. Or just the nearby village… No, nevermind. We should not be thinking about that now.”
Indeed, this was the perfect opportunity.
“Aye. If it does not rain, it cannot use its full power.”
I said as I took out the rocks from my inventory.
“Let’s fight back.”
“Yes. But… Prince Remlik might still be inside of it. Should we still attack?”
Ashton asked.
“As we do not know the full extent of the enemy’s plans, we cannot hesitate, even if he is. However, if it is possible to disarm or capture it, then we will try that… First, I’ll aim for its wings.”
The others nodded at this.
“Then Fule and I will send magic energy to Lord Heal.”
“Aye, thank you.”
And so I pointed my hands towards the dragon in the sky.
Even if it was far away, it was large enough that targeting it was not difficult.
Furthermore, it seemed to be confused by the weather, and did not move.
“…Here I go!!”
With all of my magic energy, I unleashed Hell Explosion.
Rienna and Fule’s power was added, and there was no rain to kill the momentum of the attack.
Surely this would be effective on the dragon.
The red light shot towards the dragon.
Eventually, it hit the wings and—the red light spread out as if blowing up.
Once the light settled, there was an explosion that shook the earth.
The flames were several times larger than the dragon as they expanded, and we felt the shock and heard the sounds.
“!!”
It lasted for over ten seconds, but we were protected by magic barriers.
Eventually, it all died down, and we could see the dragon again.
“…Yes!!”
The dragon was burnt black as it fell from the sky.
Its body and four limbs still maintained their shape, but it had lost its wings.
In the meantime, there was a giant statue rushing straight towards it from the sky. The Mappa statue.
Haines raised his voice with joy.
“That Mappa! He’s alive!”
“I suppose he means to stop it. We should head there at once!”
Ashton carried me on his back, and rushed towards the dragon. Haines carried Rienna and Fule and followed behind.
However, while we were on our way there, a change came over the dragon.
The dragon’s body changed into a single light, which then dispersed into smaller lights.
The lights spread out in all directions, and then transformed into numerous lindwurms.
Ashton muttered.
“So that dragon really was made by gathering the lindwurms together.
“It looks like it! Ah, and there is the prince!!”
Fule pointed. I saw Remlik there, leaning on his sword as if it was a staff.
“Remlik!!”
Ashton and Haines ran towards him at full speed.
This was because the lindwurms were starting to pick themselves up off of the ground.
Remlik heard our voices and answered.
“Heal!”
I got off of Ashton and rushed to Remlik.
The mithril armors and beautiful hair were covered in soot. However, he was well enough to stand.
“Remlik, are you alright?”
“Somehow. Still, you managed to defeat the founder…”
“Founder?”
“We can talk about it later. In any case, you have won.”
Remlik said, and then he called out to the lindwurms.
“…Father. Brother. Vader no longer has the power to defeat them. Isn’t that right?”
Remlik asked, and then Ruda’s voice echoed from the group of lindwurms.
“Not yet… We can still fight. Vader does not admit defeat.”
Ruda was burnt black, and looked like he could barely even stand. He had even lost his wings.
The other lindwurms looked like they had also lost the will to fight. However, some of them went into an aggressive stance like Ruda.
Remlik spoke to them as well.
“The outcome is decided. Vader has no way of winning.”
“We can…! We would never lose to the likes of them…!”
Ruda tried to strike at Remlik then, but the giant hand of the Mappa statue grabbed him.
Ruda moved wildly in its hand.
“Shit!!”
“I heard that you liked to fight, but I didn’t realize it was to this degree. The treaty will have to take your personality into account.”
I turned my head and saw that Baris was standing on the shoulder of the Mappa statue.
“Baris. You came.”
“I’m sorry. I misjudged the enemy’s strength.”
“What are you saying? Your plan was brilliant, Baris.”
“I am honored by your praise. However, the secret plan… Oh, here they come.”
Baris turned his head to the south.
I could see a group marching on the horizon.
A green army.
It is the Sylpheum. Baris had kept them hidden near the cliffs where we had once rested. There were about a thousand of them.
The Vader people were stunned.
“The people of the southern forest… Not just the demihumans, but them as well…”
“How did they get past the checkpoints…”
Once the Sylpheum appeared, hardly anyone wanted to resist.
Furthermore, the Mado Armors surrounded the Vader people.
As Remlik said, the outcome was already decided. Everyone could see it.
However, Ruda continued to resist.
“So you were planning after all! However, I…”
“Ruda, that’s enough.”
A voice interrupted him. A clear voice that echoed from the group of lindwurms.
Great, the best part of the fight is shortened. The baddies needed a lot more “convincing” here, not just a lil show of force. It’s sad when authors tend to favor silly feelings over action.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
