Chapter 251 – A Comeback!!
“MAPPPPAAA!!”
After being hit by the dragon’s tail, the Mappa statue went flying into the air.
Without even knowing where it went, our surroundings were enveloped by even stronger rain and lightning.
And though we were right under the dragon, the rain and lightning came down from the sides.
“Lord Heal, on my back!”
“Aye!”
I climbed onto Ashton’s back, and he started to run again. I continued to fire off Hell Explosion as well, but the dragon would no longer become staggered.
Fule, who was riding on Haines, looked quite pale as she created magic barriers.
“I think its body is tougher now… But the lighting and rain are also stronger.”
“We are out of options, Lord Heal… We should retreat to Leorl once.”
I nodded at Ashton’s words.
“Aye. There shouldn’t be too many Vader soldiers if it is now. We should retreat once and reconsider ways to buy time until the evacuation is complete.”
The others all nodded at this.
“Still, will we even be able to reach Leorl like this!? At this rate, the whole land will turn into a sea!!”
Haines said as he looked at his feet.
The water was already starting to rise up to his ankles.
Neither Ashton nor Haines could run like they had earlier.
And the dragon’s attacks continued mercilessly.
Not only that, but the lightning reached us through the water.
Thankfully, magic barriers and mithril armor offered us protection. But there was nothing to be done about the running.
Furthermore, a few lindworms were now coming towards us.
“Tsk! So there were still some left!!”
Ashton said, and then he changed directions and fled.
The lightning was no longer falling with much accuracy, but the water level was still rising.
At this point, we were practically in a lake.
It would be difficult to run back to Leorl like this.
“Ashton. I saw it earlier, but straight up ahead, there should be a hill. Go towards it. We can regroup there.”
“I’m terribly sorry. Yes, I will do that.”
Ashton said with regret as he began running towards the hill.
Eventually, we could see the slope where there was no water. We had arrived at the hill.
After going up a short way, I climbed down from Ashton.
Then I used my pickaxe to start digging swiftly.
Once there was a large enough hole, I used the rocks in my inventory to create walls.
The lightning still struck nearby, but not right over us.
It seemed like the dragons and lindworms had lost sight of us now.
Inside of the hole, Fule let out a sigh.
“Phew… I did not think the enemy would be this strong.”
“It must be Vader’s ultimate weapon. And it took Ruda into it.”
Haines nodded at Ashton’s words.
“Perhaps we and Vader are going on an all out war.
“You could say that. The truth is, we have used up our power and strategies.”
As Ashton said, we had gone all out this time.
It was one thing for our magic and power to be ineffective, but even Baris’s plans had failed.
I had not thought this through enough…
“Everyone. I’m sorry. It is my fault.”
I said, but the others shook their heads.
“It is not your fault, Lord Heal. Besides, we have not lost yet.”
“Indeed. As long as we survived, then we won. And the people of Leorl and Sylpheum can just come to Sheorl.”
Fule said, and Ashton nodded.
“We can always come back if we are alive. We people of Sheorl. We have always stood up like tha.
“Yes, yes. Besides, we have a sea of endless fish, and an underground with infinite rock. Our speciality is not war, but development.”
Haines said proudly.
Like this, they all encouraged me.
At the same time, it reminded me of when I first arrived in Sheorl, all alone.
“…A long time ago, I did not know if I would be alive tomorrow. Compared to that, right now, we are blessed in many ways.”
We did not have to worry about food and water.
But more than anything, I was blessed with all of these friends.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Once again, I lowered my head to all of them.
“…I’m sorry for being weak. Now, let us do what we can.”
They agreed, and then Ashton was the first to make a suggestion.
“Then first, we should split into two teams, and head for Leorl and Sylpheum. I am sure they have already started to evacuate in Leorl, but we should still go, just in case.”
Sylpheum was relatively easy to reach. The valley we passed through had a resting area, where a teleportation stone had been placed.
It would also not be raining over there.
Fule looked out through a gap near the entrance of the hole and said,
“But in this rain… Ah, we can dig through the ground.”
“I will go to Leorl. Fule, you dig towards Sylpheum… It might take some time, but we have little choice.”
Thankfully, the dragon seemed to be focused on trying to kill us, and so it was staying in the same spot in the air.
Rienna looked out and muttered.
“If only it was not raining…”
“Yes. However, that magic sure is impressive… To make it rain like this…”
Fule said. Indeed, this was on another level.
I had never heard of such a thing on the Barleon continent, where I was from.
I suppose that magic really was different around the world.
However, just then, Rienna gasped.
“…The rain.”
Fule too raised her voice.
“The rain…stopped!?”
I put some of the rocks back into my inventory and looked outside.
In front of us, there was no rain or lightning. Only a rainbow over a field.
I’m guessing that Rienna willed it to stop raining. I wonder if her farmer crest evolved somehow. I’d like it if Baris checked her crest again but i kinda doubt that’ll happen
It’s getting worse. It may be only my impression, or my memory fails me, but it feels like the writing is worse now, the part where the water was rising repeats in two paragraphs. Instead of action we get bad news repeated, it’s like we’re reading the news not a novel. I feel bad for the translator to start working on a story, and see it go worse and worse.
Thanks for the awesome translation! May God bless you!
