Cave King – 253

Chapter 253 – Independance!!

As the voice echoed suddenly, the Lindwurms became quiet in an instant.

However, Ruda alone looked unsatisfied.

“Respectfully, I am still able to fight!!”
“Did you not hear me? They are no longer an enemy that you can stand against.”

Ruda closed his mouth.

I tried to find the speaker, but could not see him anywhere.
It was almost as if the voice was ringing in my head, rather than coming from any direction.

Still, judging by the way that Ruda spoke, I had an idea of who it was.

The Vader king.

Just then, Remlik went down on one knee and said,

“Your Majesty. So you have been watching?”
“I have seen a lot. A vicious king who rides on top of a golden statue… I have never seen such a thing.”

Upon hearing those words, Baris opened his mouth in surprise.

Apparently, the Vader king thought that Baris was our leader.
And he sounded like he was afraid.
Baris looked like he wanted to correct him, but perhaps this would be good for negotiating.

I looked over to Baris, and then spoke to the Vader king.

“King of Vader. We are not here as invaders. As long as you promise to not invade Sylpheum, and to protect the demihumans.”
“I heard that before. But that is not all, is it?”
“Aye. As dictated in the documents I handed to Ruda, I want Remlik to be in charge of these lands.”
“In exchange, you will sign a non-aggression agreement with us. But we do not even know who you are, or what your country is called.”
“Excuse me. How rude of us. We are the people of Sheorl. Previously, we had sent you a message through a merchant from the Amolis republic.. Did you not read it?”
“…Sheorl? Hmm…”

The Vader king fell silent.

On the other hand, a voice rose up from the Lindwurm.

“She-Sheorl… Cou-could it be…”

I turned my head and saw Arder standing there shakily.

Arder’s face looked pale, and his voice was shaking.

“Fro-from an island so far away…to this place… Ple-please forgive me!!”

Apparently, Arder thought that we had come here, because we were holding a grudge for what happened in Sheorl.

That was not my intention at all.

More importantly, it seemed clear that the king did have some knowledge about Sheorl.
After all, he would have received the message that we sent through the Amolis merchant, Berfalt.

“Back then, we were ready to forgive your acts of piracy on us, and sign a peace treaty with you. And that offer still stands.”
“I…I see… It was the Sheorl Empire… Pardon me, Sheorl emperor.”

The words echoed, and then suddenly, a man in mithril armor appeared.

He was older than Ruda, but was similarly tall and muscular.
But unlike the other Vader people, his armor had gold decorations on it, so he must be the king.

He then bowed to Baris, who rode on the golden statue.

It was clear that Baris’s appearance had intimidated him.
Even to the point of calling Baris an emperor.

Baris looked a little troubled, but this probably gave off the appearance of being annoyed.

The Vader king started to sweat. And so I continued.

“…We are already at a point, where a state of war is just one step ahead. There is no need for pleasantries. More importantly, I would like an answer to our suggestion.”
“Indeed. In the past, you overlooked acts of piracy against you. The truth is, that I felt like a mere non-aggression treaty was not enough. And I had been thinking of ways to make amends.”

I did not know what the truth was.
Perhaps he had been deliberately ignoring us.

“Here, I wish to show my sincerity as a king of this country. For the sake of friendship with your country, I will cede the Lang province to you.”

The Vader king said as he turned to me.

So the Lang province would become a territory of Sheorl.
He must have determined that he could not stand against our fighting force.
Either he thought that Langs had little value, or he wanted it to be a buffer zone.

That being said, we were not here for new territory.

And so I made a suggestion.

“What if you acknowledge Remlik as the king of Langs? And then Vader and Langs must also have a non-aggression treaty.”

The Vader king nodded immediately.
He turned to Remlik and declared,

“In that case, I hereby entrust the Langs province and all concerning titles to Remlik. And he shall be the king of Langs, and there will be a non-aggression treaty between our nations. Furthermore, all demihumans and non-Vader people will be sent to Langs.”
“Father, that is not enough. You must also pass a law that forbids slavery in all of Vader land.”
“…I promise. It shall be enacted within the year. Is that acceptable, Sheorl Emperor?”

He said, turning to Baris.

Baris looked awkward, but nodded his head.

He must have looked angry and unsatisfied though, as the Vader king bowed his head deeply.

And like that, Langs became independent.

Remlik was now the king, and there would be no war between it, Sheorl, Vader and Sylpheum.
It was a little strange that the Vader king continued to call us the Sheorl Empire, but I suppose it was because of his fear of Baris.

In any case, the battle in the Langs province ended with our victory.

  1. [Excuse me. How rude of use] -> {Please excuse me, that was rude of us} ~ me thinks

Come on, that was so unsatisfying. I wonder if Japan got invaded by that trash called baby inc, or an equivalent, because their stories now tend to have retarded MCs, useful like ashtrays on bikes and with spines slightly tougher than octopi’s.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!

  2. Seems might strange to read a story about ALL types of people having to unite to survive the end of the world, that historical oppression is standing between those people and survival, and then see complaints about a company that is hired by other companies to help them ensure simple representation of historically oppressed minorities.
