Kamigami – 47 Part 3

“Source of all principles and elements dwelling within all things. I weave the primordial rhyme, etched in radiance.”

Keita’s chant echoed with Canila’s divine might. Sheto listened and stood ready.

“You art a faint and flickering wisp, but with gathered hands raised as one, you will become a great conflagration that scorches the heavens.”

A tingling sensation pierced through his fur, and then golden light began to scatter through the air in response to the magician’s voice.

“Ma-magic!? That kobold!?”
“No! There must be a magician hiding somewhere!”

The enemy drew back frantically and tried to run back into the dungeon.

“Come forth at my call. With your very being, reduce a thousand riders and ten thousand armies to ashes.”

“Won’t let you get away!”

The first arrow that was unleashed crushed a goblin’s head, sending him tumbling to the ground with the other corpses.

“Let our hymn resound upon the battlefield of grudges.”

“Damn it!!”

The frantic troll swung his mace, but Sheto rushed it and climbed up the stone wall.

“Unleash the hidden power of heat.”

“I’m taking you down with me…!”

Faster than the giant’s outstretched hand, the kobold’s small body flew over the wall, and then he covered himself with the blessed cape. And then…

“Raging Inferno!”

A giant pillar of fire appeared and burned the area in front of the dungeon.

Fi listened as the ground shook, and then he breathed a sigh of relief. He had received a message from Salia, which told him that the others were safe, and the monster horde was defeated.

“Mission accomplished then. Let’s go, Guto.”
“Woof.”

The inside of the dungeon was damp and smelled of rot. However, there were lots of shadows and places to hide. And thanks to Guto and his own sense of smell, they were able to avoid the enemies.

He now moved out of his hiding place and looked around. There was a large hall and three paths leading from it. One was the exit.

“Left and right. Which do you think it is?”

Silently, the wolf took the right. Ever since he had entered the dungeon, he had felt extremely nervous.

Listen carefully and be aware of your surroundings. That was all. And his senses seemed to sharpen.

“It wasn’t like this the last time.”

As a Hero, he was protected by perfect defenses. And so he just felt like he was sightseeing. Enemies would fall whenever he swung his sword. And Magic could blast away any obstacles. It had dulled his senses to danger.

“Really… I was just relying on the divine vessel the whole time… Wait, hide. Gu… Huh!?”

Before he could finish, the wolf moved into a small passage. There, he sunk into a pool of filthy water until only his face stuck out.

“Ugh…gross… I’m glad I’m the one being carried.”
“Guuurrrr…”
“Ah, I really am grateful… Hehe.”

As they talked quietly, a group of armored goblins passed in front of them.

Judging by the complicated patterns and symbols, and the fact there was no rust, they must be magical items.

But they were so frantic that they did not even look in the direction of the waste disposal room.

Eventually, the sounds grew faint, and Guto came out again.

Fi focused on the nerves in his horns, but could not hear any monsters. They must be going outside in order to fight Sheto.

“Alright, if we just continue to the back… He-hey!?”

The wolf suddenly bit Fi’s neck and tossed him to the side.

“Wh-what’s this all of a sudden! St-stooopp!”

The wolf then shook so that the filth went flying towards the small dragon.

“Wh-what are you doing, you stupid dog! Ahh! It stinks! Disgusting!”
“Woof.”
“Damn it! I’ll get you back for this!”

The wolf ignored him and ran off ahead.

With tear eyes, Fi took out his smartphone and sent a message.

“Armored goblins with possibly magic armor. About four of them headed that way. We’ll go deeper in…”

He typed that much and then looked at the staircase that had appeared in front of them.

“Found staircase. Will try going down. Will send a map, so you can lead the others.”
