Paintbrush Summoner – 105

Chapter 105 – Summon! Horemakhet!

“Gold dragon…!!”

“You idiot. Are you going to charge right in!?”

As Menew lashed his whip from the driver’s seat, Ralph grabbed him by the collar.

The gold dragon looked at them once, but did nothing. It then returned to its patrol.

Menew was thrown into the carriage, and then Ralph held him down.

“If you want to die, do it alone! I thought you came here to stop it!”

Menew’s eyes quivered at Ralph’s words.

Anger had made him forget himself. Or he was taken by an urge.

Why was he not able to control himself? As he wondered about this, he started to cool down.

(…Is this Apep’s effect?)

If it was, the source of it should be nearby.

It was no surprise that the gold dragon would go mad with greed.

Menew slapped his cheeks with both hands. The pain cleared his mind just a little.

“I’m sorry. It seems like something is wrong with me.”

And so Menew passed the mystery masks to the other three.

“In other words, you just need to keep resisting it.”

Realizing what Menew meant, the other three quickly put on the masks.

“Summon, Yaya!”

Menew waved his staff and called Yaya. They nodded at each other, and then she began to sing in a loud voice.

It was as if she was being dragged into Menew’s madness, and she could not control her power.

As for the other three, the masks allowed them to resist it. Otherwise, listening to the song at such close range would quickly put them to sleep.

Menew grinned. It was working. And he was feeling better.

Quietly, Menew continued to drive the carriage, while Yaya rode on top of the roof. The giant silhouette of the gold dragon came closer to them from below.

“It’s so big. I’m reminded of it. Though, Mr. Wal was also big.”

“Being the same size helps with maintaining balance.”

Indeed. It was as if strength and size were the same thing.

There was something he realized through resisting as well. The influence of Apep was like a form of intoxication, so a physical punch was effective.

Back when he was dealing with Mr. Wal, carving away at Mr. Wal had helped a little in bringing him back to his senses.

Putting them under Menew’s control was the best way to avoid being influenced. Well, as long as Menew stayed strong.

“If you want to punch something big, you should use something big.”

Menew stood up on the driver’s seat, and began to move his brush over the sketchbook.

Ralph stretched out his arms and supported him from behind, which allowed him to draw quickly, even as strong winds and dust from the volcano was blowing at him.

Once the carriage was about as high as the clouds, he thanked Ralph and told him to let go.

Then he took in a deep breath and exhaled.

Could something so reckless work? He asked himself. However, there was no one here to reprimand him.

Yes, no one could.

And so he summoned ‘Him,’ who he had drawn as best as his imagination allowed.

He threw down the sketchbook, and then swung his staff. The pages lit up, and a visible current of magic energy appeared.

“Summon! Horemakhet!!”

He looked just like a giant. However, he was a weapon without human warmth.

With a pale face and golden wings, the weapon had a body marked with gold and blue lines.

The humanoid thing appeared from within the clouds suddenly, and the other three watched with their mouths hanging open.

“Ralph. The carriage, please!”

Menew said, and then he jumped onto the giant’s shoulder. The carriage shook violently.

Menew landed and then ran towards the chest of the ‘giant robo.’ And then he was sucked into the cockpit.

Inside the cockpit, there was a screen with a full 360 degree angle. It was the type where his movements controlled the robot exactly.

He was currently floating up in the air. To the left, he detected Ralph and the others inside of the carriage.

Ralph instinctively recognized the danger, and quickly moved the carriage away. Far enough from the humanoid thing, but close enough to still see the gold dragon.

Menew was relieved by this, and then he used the wings that sprouted from the robot’s head, to beat the air and charge straight towards the dragon.

It was part plunge and part flight. He approached in this reckless manner, and then swung.

Horemakhet’s arms moved in sync with Menew’s, and the fist slammed into the dragon.

The gold dragon was thrown into the sea, causing a great splash. For a second, it did not understand what had happened.

After pulling its singing body out of the water, and returning to the sky, it finally saw the thing that had struck him down.

“Wh-what is that! Isn’t that cheating!?”

A giant humanoid of metal that had wings coming out of its head. It was beautiful, with a streamlined shape, but it had cold eyes that looked at the gold dragon.

Upon hearing this question, Menew excitedly posed. His right hand was placed on his chest, and his other limbs were extended.

“Allow me to explain! Horemakhet is the humanoid divine robot that Horus-tan drove in the last battle against Osiris in ‘Flying! Horus-tan’!”

If Seker were here, he would have scolded Menew and told him that no one here would understand that reference. Unfortunately, he was not present.

“That is not what I’m talking about!”

The gold dragon shouted, and then it flew up and unleashed its breath.

“Heru-ur’s Shield!”

Menew raised his left hand, and the sun-shaped shield of light appeared dispersed the breath.

“You still haven’t returned to your senses? Oh, well…”

Menew moved even closer to the dragon, and then pulled it as he flew up into the air. And like that, he slammed it down into the water.

And then he kicked the dragon in the face.

“Gaahh!”

“Let’s go!

“Let’s go! Horemakhet of the Dawn!”

Menew’s robot spread out its arms and legs wide, and then the wings stood up, and the balls at its joints started to glow and gather in front of the cockpit.

And then an ultra heat ray shot out and burned the dragon’s wings.

“Ah, damn it.”

This time, it would not be able to get out by itself.

Menew hurriedly approached the tattered dragon, and caught it right before it fell into the sea.

“Wh-what…was I doing…?”

“Have you regained your senses? Sorry for doing this to you.”

The sight of the dragon, spreading out its wings over the sea, would capture the imagination of the people of El Dorado, and become a new deity to worship.

Horemakhet. That was the name they heard. And word of it would spread in the blink of an eye.
