For some time, Keita was not able to think about anything.
Eventually, the words sank into his brain, and then questions arose.
“Wh-why!? Why so suddenly…!”
“There was no explanation.”
‘I-I don’t understand! In the first place, gods do not speak to…’
“That is why-”
Vengras said, interrupting the goddess he should not be able to hear.
“Canila Farada. You have not been invited.”
‘Wh…you-you can’t just…!’
“It is our god’s words. It has nothing to do with me. Please forgive my insolence.”
Canila’s rage could be smelled in the air. Vengras ignored it and turned to Keita.
“Of course, you can reject the request if you wish. The choice is up to you.”
What should he do?
Indeed, Keita was angry at the Seer for his actions. And he had wanted to tell him that directly.
But he had not been expecting an actual opportunity like this.
‘No…! You cannot!’
He had never heard Canila shout like this before.
‘Do not get anymore involved! This is another one of his tricks!’
“Is that your answer?”
Vengras asked plainly.
“Our god’s words may have been harsh. But we carried out the mission with our Hero, because we believed that it was the right path.”
“You…did?”
“But if our god thinks that there is truth in your words as well, then perhaps something will change.”
Keita considered his words.
The Seer wanted to speak with him.
But why?
If he wanted Canila’s lands, then he could have easily lured him out and had him killed and blamed it on the monsters.
Perhaps he thought Keita was worth using. And so he wanted to speak with him in order to lure him away from Canila.
Just then.
When suspicion was about to take over his heart, a voice with a different emotion rained down.
‘There is nothing to think about! As if the god of wisdom could have any use for a mere child!’
A mere child.
The goddess’s words changed the flow of his heart.
“What an odd thing to say. Is Keita not the Hero you chose yourself? And now, you ridicule him to his face.”
‘No! I didn’t mean-’
“I accept.”
Keita said as he stood up from the bed.
“I will meet with the Seer.”
‘No! You can’t…’
“Be quiet, Canila.”
His voice was colder than he had intended. Heavy anger and dark feelings affected his words.
“In the first place…you always stop talking to me when things go wrong. You hold me back when the situation changes… Are you even trying to help me!?”
‘I’m sorry. But I…’
“I don’t want to hear any excuses! If you can’t help me, then stay quiet! Besides, this isn’t even your problem!”
His rough voice shattered any protest. As the room fell silent again, Vengras opened the door for Keita.
“Let us go then. The audience room has already been prepared.”
He nodded and left the room.
They passed through the long empty hallway and entered the neighboring lecture hall. Several sorcerers and priests were standing around a magic circle.
“Now, we will call him. Please wait.”
Vengras signaled to the others, and they began the ritual.
