Kamigami – 64 Part 5

Zephalis gave her a choice. Embrace her betrayal and rise to height of glory, or she could denounce him.

‘Do as you please. However, you know what will happen if word of this should reach her.’

In the end, she decided to remain silent in regards to what she had done.

The faction that supported the games were now the most powerful, and lesser gods like her could do nothing but protect themselves.

Even as Salia watched her star dying, ignorant of what had transpired, Canila could say nothing.

After that, she acted as if to erase her own existence. She had no ambitions when it came to the games, and did her best to fulfill her role quietly. But even so, she liked to think that she was resisting the nature of the game in her own way.

‘He said that it’s a sin that we’re so weak.’

Keita muttered after his audience with the god.

The Seer’s plotting had trampled over everything. In the end, he had not been able to do anything. Like Salia, everything he tried to protect was taken away.

“No, you should not think such things.”

A wretched goddess who, instead of lending a hand to a friend in distress, chose to cover her eyes and ears and let the truth be buried. And then she shamelessly begged for help when she herself was in danger.

A bleak smile crossed her lips. The scene in the water mirror was dark, showing a small clearing in the forest where preparations for camp were being made.

“Keita.”

The boy silently prepared to cook as he placed a pot over the fire.

“You should arrive in the next town tomorrow. Is there anything you wish to say to me first?”

It was a horrible thing to say in the end. Not only could she not read his heart, but she was discarding everything.

‘No. Nothing.’
“I see.”

‘If this is the end, then complaining will just make us feel bad. You really are a bad goddess.’

“Yes. It is just as the dragon god said.”

As she spoke of the dragon god, she also remembered that she had been contacted by the small dragon. Though, due to the Seer’s threats, they had not been able to connect.

“Hey, if this really is the end. Why not talk to him one last time?”
‘You mean Fi?’

“I think it would be better for you, instead of talking to me.”

‘…I suppose. I also want to know what happened to Sheto.’

The food on the road was simple. He ate something similar to what they had that morning, and then the merchant went to sleep, leaving the night watch to Keita.

“Just wait a moment.”

She touched the water mirror and followed the traces of the young dragon’s consciousness.

‘Ah, hello!? Finally, we connected! Hey, Keita!’

“I’m…so-sorry. It’s me right now.”

‘Do you know how many times I tried to call? Why didn’t you contact me!’

“Um…a lot happened. Since then…”
‘Damn it… Well, now that we can finally talk…’

The call suddenly ended.

‘We can see each other’s faces like this.’

‘Fi!?’

On the other side of the water mirror, the dragon waved while riding on top of the wolf.

‘It’s been a while. How have you been doing?’

‘So you’re alive… But more importantly, how did you know…’
‘A lot happened here too. But first, I better make a call.’

The small dragon used his device.

‘Ah, old man? I connected. I found Keita… Yes, got it. Alright, thanks.’

After the call, the dragon looked up again.

‘Look, my old man is going to go over there now. Let him in.’
“…Huh? Your old man?”

The god seat suddenly shook.

The door that was supposed to be sealed was hammered violently with a loud noise.

“Huh!? What!?”

Canila watched in surprise.

“CAAAANNIIIILLAAAA! LET’S PLAAAAY!”

It was the dragon god’s voice.
