Kamigami – 71 Part 6

‘However, if massive armies continue to rampage like this, it is the common folk who will suffer. But if we just hunt down the generals who want to play at war, then the knights and mercenaries of three nations should be able to manage the rest.’

Keita was to take down the Hero of the other army. And Sheto’s role was to defeat the minotaur standing right in front of him.

And now the demon general had given him the opportunity on his own.

“Do not make me say it again. Sheto will be by my side.”
“Then allow me to go as well.”
“Komos.”

The minotaur sighed as he raised a hand to stop him.

And then he turned back to Sheto.

“Sheto. I have a request.”
“…What is it?”

“Will you stay with me during the battle?”

It was almost a whisper.

There was something almost pleading in his voice.

“The god’s strategy will certainly work against that army. However, they also have a god on their side. If our powers are equal, then both the army and I might be blown away like rubble.”

“Tha…”

Sheto opened his mouth, but he began to feel dizzy before he could continue.

That’s not true. He almost said.

“And so for this battle, I want to give it everything that I’ve got. Not just to avenge the last defeat, but because I want to wield my power to its fullest extent, alongside the soldiers I have trained.”

He said calmly.

He wasn’t trying to sound strong or exaggerating.

Still, Berganda’s voice reached the depths of his heart.

“I know what you and the others are trying to do with this battle. And I am asking you with that knowledge. It is just until the battle is finished. Go with me, Sheto.”

After a brief hesitation, Sheto opened his mouth.

“Fine.”

There were sighs of relief from the others.

The Demon General nodded slowly.

“Thank you.”

Sheto stared at Berganda head on.

Something was welling up inside of his body, like it was burning.

Like that fire wine they had once drunk together.

“In exchange, I have, request.”
“What?”

“When this battle, over, you will fight me.”

He felt an ache as he said the words, stemming from the affection he felt. It echoes deep within his chest. Even though the general was supposed to be his enemy.

Still, Sheto never forgot who he was.

“Demon General Berganda, I will, hunt you.”

“Very well.”

It was then that the minotaur finally laughed. A guileless laugh from the heart.

Upon hearing it, Sheto laughed as well.

As if to challenge everything.
