I listened to the report
“I see… I wonder why it is me? Unless it’s because I’m always with Leo…”
“Wuff. Wuff. Wuff-wuff!”
Apparently, Leo understood what I was wondering, and so she explained it to me.
As I was Leo’s master, that put me at the top of the chain of command.
In other words…if they carried me, they would be the most likely to earn treats.
“Huh… Well, I suppose it’s not really a bad thing, so it’s fine for now.
Eventually, I would have to talk to them and Feri, and tell them that Leo was not my subordinate or someone who had to obey me…
Also, I wanted to see the fenrirs as friends, just like Leo.
Well, Leo was special. A partner.

“Phew… Just a little preparation left…”
“Wuff.”
While talking to Alfred, I returned to my room and put down the packages with a sigh.
“Papa, look!”
“Oh, it suits you, Liza.”
“It looks very nice, Lady Liza.”
Ms. Lyra had helped Liza put on the necklace.
Liza looked very happy and proud to have it.
“Alfred. What is Claire doing right now?”
There was something I had to do to finish the present.
And I did not want Claire to see me doing it.
“She is speaking with Ms. Hermine in her room. I believe that Sebastian went to her a moment ago. Uh…if you want me to call…”
“NO! It is fine. You don’t need to do that. I just wanted to confirm.”
“I-I see… Excuse me.”
For a moment, Alfred’s face had lit up, and so I had to frantically stop him from leaving the room.
He looked a little disappointed.
“Ah, also… I met Mr. Halton in town…”
And so I told him that we had received the slippers.
“I see. Then I will have them packed with the other things that are to be sent to Range Village.”
“Thank you.”
“Uh…”
“Huh? What is it, Liza?”
“Wuff?”
As I was talking to Alfred, I saw that Liza looked restless while next to me. It seemed like she wanted to say something.
“Uh…umm…”
And so I squatted down so that we were at eye level.
Leo was also looking at her curiously.
“I was thinking…about what you said yesterday.”
“What I said?”
“About being grateful to sister Claire…”
“Ah, right.”
“And so I…uh… He-here!”
“Wuff?”
“This…?”
Liza’s hands had been hidden behind her back. But she now thrust them out towards me.
There was something wrapped up in a cloth.
“A present for you and mama! Th-thank you…for everything. I wanted to say…that I’m not lonely anymore because of you and mama…”
“I see… Thank you…”
“Wuff-wuff…”
“Uh… Can I open it?”
“Ye-yes. Yo-you said that it suited me…but I don’t know what you and mama will think…”
“Wuff-wuff!”
Leo barked as if urging me to hurry up and open it.
