My Beloved Dog is the Strongest in Another World – 1249

There was a special meaning in the necklace

“Wuff-wuff!”
“Haha. Thank you, Leo.”

Leo barked happily as she sat next to me.

As she pushed her face towards me, I patted her on the head gratefully.

Apparently, she was happy for us.

Claire was also petting Sherry and smiling, so perhaps it was the same for them as well.

“However, that was rather bold of you, Mr. Takumi.”
“Huh…?”

Sebastian and Alfred approached me quietly while I was petting Leo.

I was not quite sure what Sebastian meant.

Was he talking about how I had hugged Claire from behind?

“I didn’t think you would give her a necklace with a precious stone.”
“Is there something wrong with that? I thought it suited her very well… Ah, also…thank you all for the lace.”

“No… It’s just that there is a special meaning to it…were you not aware of it, Mr. Takumi?”

“A special meaning?”
“Hmmm. Well, it looks like I will have to explain it to you then.”

Sebastian said with a smile.

“It all started with the founder of this country… In other words, the first king.”
“But the first kind is…!”

That was Mr. Euto!

“Is something the matter?”
“No…nothing at all…”

Alfred looked at me curiously, but I shook my head.

After all, it was supposed to be a secret.

“…He gifted a certain woman with a necklace decorated with precious stones. Up until then, it was unusual to give women necklaces as gifts. Well, mostly because before that time, people were too poor to make or trade for such things.”

It was still during the building of the country. There were probably not even that many people around.

As they were trying to start their lives from scratch, spending time and effort on such things would seem like a waste.

“The first king’s name was Yuto… Didn’t the royal visitor who came to Range Village have a similar name?”

“Ye-yes, I think so… Perhaps he was named after that king…”

“Hmm. Well, he is a descendant, after all. It is probably not too strange.”

It was then that Sebastian remembered Mr. Euto, and he tilted his head thoughtfully.

Now that I thought about it, if he really didn’t want people to suspect his identity, he should have used a different name.

I didn’t like to lie. And Sebastian was very sharp, so he might have already figured it out…

If I asked Mr. Euto about it, he would probably say, ‘Euto and Yuto. See, it is different. Isn’t that funny?’

“The woman he gave the necklace to was the future queen. And so the story spread. Some say that the precious stones were a gift from another country, while others say they were dug out from the mines.”
“I see…”

“The queen was especially beloved by the people. And so once they all heard about it, it did not take long for it to become a tradition.”

“Giving someone a necklace?”
“Yes. The two were very close and helped the country to be prosperous. And so the necklace is considered to be a symbol of close relationships and marriage.”

Of marriage… Wouldn’t a ring be better?

In fact, I had considered giving her a ring. But it might look like a wedding ring, and it was a little too early for that.

And since I had already given her a hair ornament, a necklace seemed like the next best thing.

Still, perhaps I should have asked someone about it first…

“Aside from the stone, there is a chain that hangs around the neck. And it symbolizes the bond that keeps a married couple connected.”
