<<Do You Wish To Reset? Y/N>>
One tap.
Yasuharu then felt dizzy, and he moved his hand away from the tablet.
Everything had returned to how it was. The formation, the enemy’s movements…every last detail.
‘Assign the priests to the ogre in the center. There should be no problem if they purify the spirits the moment the spell is activated.’
The box-shaped formation now split into numerous smaller squares, and at the same time the magicians shifted as ordered, reorganizing into mixed units alongside the priests.
“I’ll dispatch part of the cavalry to the magical beasts on the left flank. They’ll block the enemy’s escape route and burn the entire forest with magic. Do I have your permission?”
‘Mobility will drop within the forest. Move the cavalry first and have them seal off the path leading to the Demon General.’
The enemy worms were moving with the intent of self-destruction. Still, if there was a risk of killing too many of their own, it would become far more difficult to carry out such a tactic.
‘A strategist hobgoblin just flew off as a messenger to the throwing unit. They’re likely planning to keep them in reserve for the next phase of the operation. Deploy the Dragoons the moment the battle begins. Wear down the Fang Riders with long-range fire. And lure the enemy out before their strategist arrives.’
Every order was conveyed without delay, and only afterward did the enemy begin to move.
The enemy faithfully repeated the exact same actions as before. The time reversal caused by the reset could only be perceived by him, the ‘player’…or by the other Hero who stood as his opponent.
However…
‘Hmph. That Dragon God… He is not bad at all.’
The Seer praised. He was in unusually high spirits.
“…Is there some problem with the strategy?”
‘Have you not noticed it? The enemy’s movements haven’t changed in the slightest from before.’
Yasuharu’s expression tightened slightly as he replayed the scene in his mind.
Currently, the one directing the Demon Lord’s army seemed to be the very Dragon God who the Seer regarded as a sworn enemy. If that was the case, then the Dragon God should fully understand the effects of the reset.
On top of that, the enemy ranks included a kobold who was a Hero. And yet the enemy was tracing the exact same actions as before, almost to a foolish degree.
“Is this…a war of attrition?”
‘Precisely. They intend to keep playing their optimal moves while watching for an opening on our side.’
They continued to station the ogre units at the center because they were a powerful force that could not be ignored. The throwing units and the magical beast units functioned as the mobile pieces, which Yasuharu also could not afford to leave unattended.
Naturally, this narrowed his range of options, and like established openings in shogi, every action ended up being reproduced perfectly.
‘Sir Hero! The encirclement of the lizardmen is complete, just as you ordered!’
“Understood. Relay my command to the magicians in the rear. The moment the enemy launches their jumping attack, restrain them with ‘Woven Light Net Bind.’ If they can endure the first strike, the rest will pose no problem.”
The encirclement formation was pressing harder against the enemy than it did in the past. The lizardmen leap into the air all at once as they felt cornered by the fierce assault.
But in that instant, golden chains lashed out and bound each of them, and pinned the blue and red lizard, who appeared to be the leader, firmly to the ground.
‘Y-you wretches!’
Bound tight by the restraints, the warriors could do nothing but groan in frustration.
‘You spy on our strategies, shy away from a fair fight, and snatch victory for yourselves! Is this how you battle!? And you dare call yourself a Hero?!’
From his tone, it seemed he had already heard about Yasuharu’s abilities. However, the Seer only let out a cold, mocking laugh in response.
‘You who fixated on the soldiers before you and mocked my strategy as shallow. Now you must curse your own folly as you die.’
Countless short spears thrust forward, and in an instant the warrior was reduced to a mangled heap of flesh.
With that, the enemy army had likely exhausted nearly all of its available tactics. Still, their main force in the center, together with the remaining ogres and trolls, continued to hold out stubbornly as they fend off the enemy assault.
‘Yasuharu, reset now. Reassign one unit of dragoons from the Fang Riders to the center. It seems we cannot alter the move where the enemy’s throwing unit joins up with their main force.’
