Kamigami – 76 Part 4

“Apparently, it is finished.”

When Vengras moved out of the way, a strange sight appeared in front of Yasuharu.

The land was burned black, and soldiers writhed all around. A terrible smell was sharp in the air, and he could hear screaming as soldiers ran.

Half of his own tent had burned down, and could no longer be used.

Not only that, but as far as he could see, the ground had been burned.

“Wh…what is…”

“You must withdraw for now. We will deal with the rest.”

Ekbert discarded his armor, which had been turned black in the fire. He was being treated while he cursed. Poro and the others were in a similar condition.

The smell in the air made Yasuharu feel sick.

But more than anything there was that faint outline that remained in the center of the flames.

‘A suicide attack to urge us to rest. How rediculous.’

“Ugh…!”

He felt the urge to vomit.

A person had been alive right there a moment ago. A Hero, just like him. He had been struggling desperately in order to kill Yasuharu.

He had heard it all from behind the cloth.

But right before the flames were unleashed, Vengras had used everything to save him.

“Gah…ga…agh…”

“The Hero is not feeling well. Bring water and medicine. And call a physician!”

The feeling of acid was burning his throat. He had not felt anything up until now. But everything involving the battle was now shaking him violently.

‘Do not let something like this phase you. The battle is not finished. Check the condition of all troops, and annihilate the enemy.’

“Gah…ah…”
‘If you think that fighting is distasteful, then hurry up and deal with the enemy. Do you want to repeat what has just happened?’

The Seer said angrily. Yasuharu took a deep breath and then exhaled.

After he had calmed down a little, he looked at his tablet.

‘The monsters are rattled after that little farce just now. Send Vengras out to intercept them. I don’t expect a surprise attack, but have Eckbert stand guard just in case. As for those five useless ones…post them as sentries at your tent for now.’

Without saying anything, he did as he was told.

Yes, these were all pawns.

Just pawns in a game.

‘That time… Sheto came to save the village. He followed his heart, without getting anything back in return.’

The words came back to him.

He had never even thought about Lindle up until now. That there had been a Hero there, and that he was coming for him. Yasuharu had not known about it until the Seer told him.

‘If I can…throw the Hero’s calculations off… The reset will happen again. If the same time starts once more…next time… I’ll do it…better…’

His finger shook.

They had never even met, but the sound of Keita’s voice was burning into his ears.

“L-left wing…cavalry…eliminate the lizardmen as quickly as possible. The advance in the center is accelerating.”

‘Understood. Shall I send some units as reinforcements?”

“N-no, that won’t be necessary. Just… please hurry.”

‘What are you doing, Yasuharu?’

The voice from above was clearly displeased.

‘Do not thin out your defenses there. We still must be prepared for the remnants of the mountain beasts. Pull the entire force back for now and keep the enemy occupied with pursuit. And…what about the orders for Vengras?’

“I-I’m sorry…”

‘Don’t be shaken by something so trivial. From here on, we will not allow the enemy to set foot inside our camp again. Remember that.’

Upon hearing the Seer’s scolding words, Yasuharu realized what it was that was rushing through his body.

Fear. Of what would happen to him.

‘From here, we move in for the finish. Wipe out the enemy forces swiftly. Crush their main units and strip the Demon General bare. But do it without triggering a reset.’

He nodded and gulped at the order.

Even if he could reset, he never wanted to experience this again.

“Vengras. Use your Siege Sorcery to sweep away the enemy forces.”

‘Are you certain? Once I use it, I will not be able to use it again for quite some time.’

“It’s fine.”

His finger slid on the tablet and he marked the position for Vengras to stand.

Right before them was the enemy’s main force, breaking through the central wall, led by the remaining ogre troops. Alongside the Demon General, kobolds could also be seen among them.

“This war will end here. Use the main force as bait and crush the enemy units that have pushed too far forward.”

Everything would be settled here and now.

With that resolve, Yasuharu made the declaration.
