Day 9: New Equipment

Holy Era 6102, Month of the Moon Rabbit, 22nd day.
Weather: Sunny

Today is the day I collect my new equipment!! And the weather is perfect♪
I was looking forward to it so much that I ended up waking up earlier than usual. Because of that, I had nothing to do all morning. After all, I couldn’t take on any quests without my equipment.

As soon as it was midday, I rushed to the weapons and armor shop.
I was just so happy that passersby gave me strange looks. But I’ll try and forget that. Yes, that’s what I’ll do.

When I arrived at the shop, the old man was already waiting for me.
Apparently, since this was me, he thought that I would appear as soon as it was midday.
Hmm. We’ve only met twice, and yet he understood my personality already…impressive.

And then, the moment that I saw the ready equipment in the back of the store, I lost all words.
Amazing. It was amazing… Huh? I can really have all of this without additional fees!?

My leather armor now had a silvery metal covering the breastplate. It was apparently thicker on top, and it curved inward as it spread out. …Uh, this wasn’t leather armor anymore. It was metal armor, wasn’t it!?
On top of that, the shin guards and bracers were also covered in metal now. What!? And even the headband!?
As I looked at them in shock, the old man grinned and then took out something else from the back.

What he handed me were two simple swords. One was the kind of short sword that I usually used. The other was even smaller like a dagger.
With trembling hands, I removed them from their sheaths.
Once they were released, I saw that they had been polished to perfection. Both of the silver blades reflected my face.
Even an amateur like me could be certain that these were fine swords…

I turned my head awkwardly to look at the old man. He was laughing with satisfaction.
His explanation was, ‘I might have gotten a little carried away,’ but…a little??
After that, I repeatedly asked him if I should pay an additional fee, but he lightheartedly told me that I should take them and not worry.
…I won’t ever be able to sleep with my feet turned towards him now…he’s just too good a person.

And so without further delay, I tried them on.
Woah. What a surprise…at a glance, I look like a proper first-rate Adventurer. With this equipment, no one would think that I’m a beginner…
Even the old man said something about how the tailor makes the man. And for once, I couldn’t argue with him.
Because even I agreed…

I thanked the old man again and then left the weapons and armor shop.
He had done so much for me. And so from now on, I would buy everything related to equipment from here.
And if I found good materials, I would prioritize selling them to him.
Of course, I was sure that he would tell me to not worry about such things.

Now, this means that from tomorrow, I can start adventuring with my new equipment!!
I feel like I’ll be able to do all kinds of things that I couldn’t before!! I will do my best!!

Today, as a way of celebrating, I will stay at a luxurious inn with delicious food. I haven’t done that since my first day!!
It’s quite the indulgence, but surely it can be allowed for just today.
