Seisan Mahoushi – 233

Chapter 233 – We had all the materials!?

“I was shocked when Joshua first made the gate for Fendel village, but…”

Mette said as she looked up at the giant, looming gate.

It had been made with great stone materials that would have usually been used for castle walls. It had been made at the foot of the mountain, but surpassed the mountain in height.
But in spite of its size, the actual entrance was small. It was just wide enough for two carriages to pass through at once.

The Summoning Gate… Well, it was a replica.

Before building the gate with Summoning Stones, I wanted to try it out with normal stone materials first.

Ymir said with a proud expression,

“How is it? It does not shake at all, does it? It is the result of lots of trial and error.”
“Aye. It should be fine with Summoning Stones then. The only problem is…”

The problem was that the processing of the Summoning Stones was taking time.

In order to make them into building materials, they had to be melted first.

“I can melt them with the fires in magic workshop, but it takes so much time…”
“Mmm. We dwarves also tried to burn them, but it would not melt.”

They would not melt in any ordinary flames. Even Demon King Sophis’s blue flames, which could melt rock in an instant, could not melt Summoning Stones.

And so I was the only one that could melt them.

“Hmm…it takes time for the heat to reach the core. But cracking them would be…well…”
“Aye. If you need to crack them, we dwarves and the Kijins should be able to do it.”

Ymir said, and Iria nodded.

“I’m sure Mette and the others have the power to do it.”

It would be difficult to break them with ordinary hammers and drills. But perhaps the dwarves and Kijins would find a way.

“Very well. I think I will ask them to do it.”

After that, I had the Kijins and dwarves come, and break the Summoning Stones.

If it was just breaking them, Sophis was also able to do it.

But I was most surprised by Iria. With a speed that my eyes could not follow, she cut the stones into small pieces.

As for Wiz and the slimes, they gathered together every little shard, so that none went to waste. Asuha and the Tengus used wind magic to gather the pieces that had turned to powder.

“Like this…they melt so much faster.”

I said as I took them out of magic workshop after they had been processed to square building blocks.

Next to me, Melk muttered,

“Oh, they are pretty. And completely black.”

Summoning Stones were black. Looking at it now, it looked like obsidian.

“If you made a gate out of it, it would certainly have a strong presence…”

Said Mette.

“Aye, I’m looking forward to its completion. The foundation work seems to be going well, so let’s keep up this momentum and continue building.”

I turned my gaze to the size, where Ecleshia and the Ents were digging a hole for the foundation.

And though they were not used to it, the elves were also using shovels and helping them.

From the village, werewolves and Mopes had brought food. And the Kappas had gathered a lot of fish from the sea.

And then, a very large, very slow turtle…Fonia, also came.

“Fonia. So you came.”
“And I brought some delicious fruits for you.”

Fonia said as she handed them to Melk.

Melk accepted them and said,

“Will distribute them later. The gate will be completed soon. Fonia should go look.”
“Thak you. That is actually why I came. What will they make after an airship? I wondered to myself.”

Fonia said with a rather excited expression.

“It is the biggest structure we have ever built…so please look forward to it.”
“I shall. But until then, I think I shall take a nap…it was a tiring journey.”

Fonia said as she closed her eyes while resting on a nearby boulder.

And then shortly after that, the foxes visited next… Milina and her siblings. And then I saw Yomotsu walking behind them.

“Sir Joshua! Everyone! The foxfolk have brought some mountain vegetables and mushrooms that they gathered!”
“Oh, Milina. We were going to have lunch soon. Thank you.”

I said, and then Milina and her siblings put down the sacks that they were carrying.

As Yomotsu watched them, Melk said,

“Yomotsu came too. Finally left the village.”
“…Shut up, wolf. A parent must protect his children… That was the Demon King’s last words to me.”

Forget the past and live for your family… Yomotsu had decided to live the rest of his life like that.

“Yomotsu finally became a good father.”
“I don’t need the approval of someone who has no children…”
“Melk will have children one day. With Joshua.”

As Melk said this, I thought I sensed Iria glaring at her while she worked.

Yomotsu sighed and then turned to me.

“It will help the Demon King…and Kyuby as well. And so I also hope that the gate will be completed.
“Aye. It will be completed, I promise.”

I nodded, and Yomotsu nodded back.

After that, Milina and the others returned to the foxfolk settlement.

And then Melk said,

“Everyone is helping to build the gate.”
“Aye. They all want to help in some way. Thanks to that, everything is going smoothly.”

The materials alone would probably be finished by tomorrow.

Just then, I noticed that Demon King Sophis was receiving a report from the black armors.

After hearing it, Sophis had a conflicted expression as she approached me.

“What is it, Sophis?”
“Can we…go somewhere else for a moment?”
“Huh? Well, things are going well, so I don’t mind.”

Why did he have to go somewhere else? Iria seemed to ask as she stared at Sophis.

Upon seeing this, Sophis opened her mouth hesitantly.

“…I shall be honest with you. I just received word that my scouts have found Kyuby’s location. He is staying in an ancient battlefield that is west of here. I am thinking about going to speak to him.”
“I see… If you can persuade him, then we won’t have to worry about anything. Yes, just leave everything here to us.”
“Thank you. I will do my best to persuade him.”

Sophis said with a bow.

And then took off into the sky and headed west.

So Kyuby was finally discovered…

However, Sophis had looked very anxious. As if she was not confident that she could change his mind.

Or was it something else…

Iria stood next to me and said,

“We should leave it to Sophis… And we…”
“Yes… Let us build this gate.”

In spite of my concerns, I decided to continue our work here.
