Kamigami – 44 Part 2

After returning to her god seat, Canila started to walk through the green forest. The small space was dense with trees, filling the air with the smell of leaves.

‘Still, it’s like you. Protecting some people instead of trying to save the world.’

There was no concern in Salia’s words. She had accepted everything from the heart.

Without planning for it, things were moving just as the Seer had said. No, somewhere deep inside, she had wanted to believe. That was why she decided to rekindle her old friendship with Salia.

She had not talked to Salia like that since she had become a fallen god. She had disappeared from the world, just as the games began to spread among the gods.

‘I would be lying if I said that I did not hope for such things. But…’

There had been a darkness in Salia’s eyes when she said that.

She might not have noticed it herself, but there was a definite resentment.

Canila understood that. It was not easy to let go of such a grudge. Not after the sadness of having your own world destroyed.

She shuddered at the thought.

‘If I acted now, it would be difficult to find proper evidence or witnesses…’

Salia herself could only see the vague outline of what was happening behind the scenes in the celestial world.

And she did not know what it meant.

After all, the leaders of the conspiracy would ‘never’ speak of it.

“…I’m sorry.”

As if to seal her heart from anything else, Canila wrapped her arms around her knees and curled up at the root of a tree.

By the time he heard the sound, Keita had already dressed and was about to go outside.

“Good morning, Sheto. Did you sleep well?”

“Aye.”

He replied, and then started to prepare himself.

“Going already?”

“Aye. I, prefer to get going, quickly.”

While he had no problems with this boy Hero, he knew that he was not welcome in the village. In that case, it was best to leave before any trouble occurred.

“About that…”

“Could you delay the departure a little?”

He saw that Fi was near Keita’s feet.

“You, slept late. Thought you’d sleep in today.”

“Well, I could only take so much biting from that stupid dog. I’ve been making progress every day, you know.”

Fi joked, and then he followed Keita out the front door.

“Hey, you!”

“Come on. Let’s take this opportunity to see how the Hero works.”

Sheto frantically chased after the dragon, and Guto followed.

“What are you doing! We, have to go!”

“Keita is going to patrol the village now. And so our breakfast will be after that. In that case, we might as well take a look at the village.”
“I’ll, make breakfast quickly! And so…”
“It won’t take that much time. Also, Fi says he wants to add some information into his smartphone.”

The two continued to walk without giving him time to argue. And so Sheto had no choice but to go with them.

‘It’s fine. Yesterday’s promise is still in effect.’

‘Indeed. Canila has made a non-agrression pact. Keita is incapable of acting as an enemy against us.’

Sheto sighed at the words of the goddesses.

‘Do you have a problem?’

“You two. Showing him off to me. To show, he’s not like other, Heroes. No? What you want to say.”
‘…Didn’t I tell you? Such tricks would not work on Sheto.’

The dragon god’s voice came from Fi’s device. Keita looked over his shoulder and bowed at Sheto apologetically.

‘In this game, this one is an exception among exceptions. Heroes from the Seer or War God would just attack unprovoked.’

‘I know. But…I just didn’t want you to think that Keita’s work as a Hero…was nothing more than the broth from the power struggle.’

The others chuckled at Canila’s words.

‘Ah… Um… Did I say something wrong?’

‘Sometimes, the less said, the better.’

“I understand how you feel, but you could say it differently…”

‘Canila… You have always been like this.’

“What’s wrong with it? Better than putting up a front in a strange way.”

“Wuff.”

Sheto chuckeld at the dejected goddess.

‘To you, this is all a lot of foolishness, isn’t it?’
“Yes. Heroes. My enemies. Everything else, I don’t care.”

‘Sheto…’
