Kamigami – 60 Part 6

“Is this…your doing, Wanderer of Worlds?”

“Can you not see? I only made an opportunity. Do not mistake me, Furukamuto. I am not your opponent.”

In an instant, he felt a chill at the dragon god’s words.

And then flames began to blaze in his eyes.

“I may have acted a little too harshly. And some of the gods may see my conduct as disgraceful.”

The Seer spoke dispassionately, all of his momentum was gone.

“However, please consider this. The two gods who profited the most during this game. They have something in common.”

The mirror came up once again, and the battle between Sheto and Evacus’s Hero appeared.

“A monster that is supposed to be the weakest, and a Hero who is fighting while using the monster tamer divine rule… Both are involved with monsters.”

“It is a bit late for such desperate arguments!”

“That is not what this is. Any more leniency will give others opportunities to be used by the Demon King. We do not want that.”

The Seer seemed to be aware of how forced his words were. However, if he continued to emphasize the fact that Sheto was a monster, things could move in a bad direction.

And so the dragon spoke to dispel the doubts.

“Seer. I understand your argument, but aren’t you misunderstanding one thing?”
“What do you mean?”

“I and the kin who are bound to me.”

The dragon’s golden eyes burned with anger.

“While Evacus’s Hero had tamed a wyvern of low intelligence, it is still related to me. Your words can be taken as an insult to me and all of my tribe.”

“…!”

“In the first place, many of the gods here are not not like you. Not of human origin. Now, why don’t you explain to all of them, what makes one a monster?”

Gods and monsters. It was really a difference in loyalties. It was not a matter of physical appearances. And so the gods that were of beast origins, and those who were machines, now looked at the Seer with disgust.

“That was not my intention. If my words offended any of you, then I will apologize. But you must have felt it too. The strangeness of that kobold.”

The mirror now showed Sheto cutting through the mithril golem. Salia opened her mouth to protest, but then decided to stay silent.

“Is this really the weakest of monsters? Even with a god’s blessing, with this much strength, one must suspect the involvement of the Demon King!”

It was an accusation lacking in evidence, but she could argue against it.

Sheto was just a kobold. That was clear.

Without a reason to fight the Heroes, he would have run away in fear. He was a cowardly creature.

Still, he continued to fight. So everyone would think it strange.

What she needed now, was not to prove her innocence, but to show that she  would not back down.

Salia could not help but smile at the thought.

“…What is so amusing?”

“I am sorry. It’s just that I thought of a way to dispel the doubts of everyone who is present.”

Salia turned to Yesta.

“Until the game is finished, I will forbid myself from using any of the star’s blessings, and will also not interfere with or enter any other territories.”

“Are you certain?”
“Now that I think about it, having completely unrelated people shoulder the burden of the games…it should not be allowed. Besides, it is the right time. However, there will be a condition.”

As the gods muttered to each other, Salia turned to face the Seer, who had been taken by surprise.

“From this moment on, there will be a complete ban on all slander against me and my subordinate! You will not condemn him for being a monster. And there will be no punishments or restraints!”

“Ridiculous! If it turns out that you are allied with the Demon King, then we will not be able to do anything.”

“And what of it? I have just now lost all of my stars and the power to offer sacrifice. All I have now is myself and the help of any gods who have allied with me.”

By offering her entire fortune, she could earn the right to silence any complaints.

Most of the gods were satisfied by this. Though they were also exasperated.

“Even if I was helping the Demon King, I could not do much. Now, surely that is enough to dispel your doubts?”

The Seer finally nodded.

“Very well. Do as you wish.”

And with those words, this gathering came to an end.
