The fairy was lurking
It seemed that Ms. Lyra was going to say more. But after hesitating for a moment, her voice trailed off.
Still, she understood what I meant.
The idea was to find out if your feelings had weight, if they were more light.
If I was out of breath, but could only think of one face, then it would show that my feelings were not light.
And there would be no argument over what the truth was.
“…That is a lot of effort to make sure that your feelings are truly earnest. Lady Claire is very fortunate.”
Ms. Lyra said with a smile.
She had the gentle kind of expression that an older sister might have towards a younger brother. It was a little embarrassing, but I didn’t hate it.
“Really! I do not understand it.”
Just then, a fluffy object parted from Leo and flew towards me.
“Farinette. Were you hiding in there?”
Farinette…apparently, that was the name of the wooly fairy.
Ms. Gelda had given her that name.
“Well, Gelda said that I should learn more about human men and women. So that’s what I’ve been doing. Monitoring you.”
“Monitoring…”
The fairy declared as she flew in front of us.
While she had been doing her best to keep men away from Ms. Gelda…it seemed like Ms. Gelda had given her a piece of her mind.
Well, she had clearly jumped to conclusions because she did not understand humans very well.
Speaking of which, while Sebastian and Claire were talking to her, they discovered that there were only female fairies.
Well, to be precise, they were not actually male or female. It was just that they resembled female women, and so they were treated that way.
I did wonder how they could multiply then.
It turned out that when a fairy lives long enough, and the end is near, they give birth to a single child. As for how that happens…it was a secret.
“If I wanted to know more about men and women, then I might as well be looking at the two who are being talked about everywhere!”
“…Talked about everywhere… You mean just in the house.”
“So, that is how it is! And so I shall be observing you from no- Ahhh!”
“Wuff!”
As Farinette had been buzzing around us while we talked, Leo finally swiped at her in annoyance.
Of course, she did not do it with much force. Still, Farinette let out a strange yelp and fell to the ground.
“Oh, you bounce quite a lot. What kind of wool is that?”
Farinette’s wool seemed to have some kind of elastic quality, as she bounced several meters up into the air after hitting the ground. And then she continued to bounce up and down for some time after.
It was like a super ball…
Though, she really did just look like wool. It even felt like wool.
Well, fairies had the ability to become invisible. There were many mysteries regarding them that we did not know. And they only seemed to be increasing…
